New alarm required. Recommendations please

  1. Just insured me bike today. Got it booked in for an mot, charged it. Went to start it and wouldn't go. Took the side panel off and tried again. Smoke started to come from the alarm. Quickly removed the battery before I ended up with a burning bike.

    Anyway. I am in the process of removing the alarm and will need a new one.
    Recommendations for a new alarm and also somewhere to fit it in the nottingham
    area. Prices as well if possible please.

  2. Do you really have to get one? Maybe your insurance are insisting but in my experience they are more hassle than they are worth on bikes.

  9. Just a thought, check your main earth cable from the engine casing back to the battery, if the connection is corroded or comes loose it uses the alarm wiring as an earth path.

  10. My recommendation would be not to bother with one. You only have to look at how many people on here have problems with them.
