I open my garage door everyday to gaze at the wonder that is my 1198S, no other bike I have ever owned has has given me this pleasure.
Barmby, just wish I had a garage to keep my bike in. I just look out of the window at mine tucked up under her cover. Hope to construct a lean to type shelter soon so she will at least have some cover, but agree with the sentiment 100%
Get on one and ride it, then you'll know. I spent years riding soulless Japanese IL4's (apart from the first R1 which was ). Like you, I visited by local Ducati dealer (P&H in Crawley) and spoke to Marcus (at the time Ducati Sales Manager - now Sales Manager for the operation). He was great and answered all my questions. The last one was, just before I rode off, "any tips on ridding it"? "Yes" he answered "enjoy it !" I went from Crawley to Brighton and back but within 30 seconds I realised that I'd wasted my motorcycling life. I've strayed from Ducati once since (to and RSV4) but it just didn't have that Ducati "thing".
I don't smoke but do the same thing, just sort of look at her after a ride. I just used to close the garage door and "foxtrot oscar" after riding my Japanese bikes.
Duke, yup, will have a word with my local dealers re the rough running when its out of warrenty, cant face the idea of it going back to oxford and being without it for a week! have replied to your pm and have been trying to put my tattoo pic as my avatar with no success, just tried here to, bloody computers,never really got the hang of them at all. pm me an email and i will try and send it that way. They're unmistakable, the way they look and sound, you can tell it's a Ducati before you see it. I even like the racket a dry clutch makes. They stand out in the crowd of other bikes, for me there's no substitute, love em.
I know now what you mean. I picked my 848 Evo Corse up yesterday (don't know whether I've mentioned it before :tongue and when I pulled up outside my office the guy from the business next door immediately came out and said "I thought I could hear a Ducati coming across the yard" :biggrin:
My old GPz550 was always worthy of a second look, but it was my first full restoration, and really rather special to me. the day I was rear ended and it was written off as a cat B I was gutted.
So, do you people sex your bikes? - I mean, is it a He or a She - and do you name them? To be honest I find this kind of thing quite disturbing; I love my bikes, but they're only machines, not worthy of a name. My mate names all of his bikes, and it just seems slightly perverted to me, like he might slip it up the tailpipe one night...
Yep mine was a she simply beautiful and curvy my pride and joy I simply enjoy nice things Yes I like men too :-D
Nope, no names or sex's, I love them and believe they have more character than lesser bikes but not into talking to them or any nonsense like that. That said I would keep them in the living room if I could!
