the standard front guard looks bloody awful, has the rear quarter missing so that it can spray crap all over the motor are there any easy bolt on alternatives the early monster guards look a lot better but mounting lugs are different, do later monster guards fit ?
monster mudguards fit as a direct replacement gives a bit more protection for the engine..........must get round to painting it lol
I extended my SS mudguard by using a bit of an old helmet visor.........bent it; sprayed it red and riveted it on.......
Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for what year monster guard is that, beacause the earlier guards do not interchange
think it was off an 2002 model not sure what model ....not up on the monsters might have been a 620 though probably the same through the range
I went to Portugal 2 up on my (streetfightered)SS in 03. It had the original SSie mudguard then. I made a flap out of lino that hooked under the brake line at the back of the guard, doubled over 10mm and stapled together to stop it sliding out. Q/D, just lift the brake hose to get it in or out. I took a spare in case it fell off, both painted matt black. It served me well, it monsooned for 2 days right across the top of France, it kept a lot of water off from my feet.
Anything will fit with a bit of ingenuity - I was told when I wanted the 748 mudguard on my 600ss (back in the ducatisti days), it won't work... yeah, it does
yes the late model monster guards do fit, have picked one up and need to get it painted to match the rest of the bike
dakk66, Nice mods on the 900ssie-can I ask about the handlebar risers and did you have any problem fitting the fairing?I bought one like it from Riccambi Weise about three years ago but gave up trying to get it to fit. You might have just renewed my enthusiasm.
You may have noticed that they all use the same forks... so any model that uses the Showa forks will fit - 748,996,998,Monster,ST,etc,etc
I bought the Abm riser kit from bikermart in Cornwall, fitting it was pretty straightforward. I didn't want to trim the fairing as recommended so I moved the whole headlight frame forward about an 2 inches, that now gives me a decent lock and I haven't had to cut anything up. Standard mirrors I found when mounted sat too low and my levers. We're hitting the glass so I bought some off eBay which sit higher, only thing I needed to do was modify them slightly so I could use there original mounts. All in all a worthwhile conversion for me and I enjoyed spending time getting it all to fit.
Thanks for that info dak,if I can apply the mods at a reasonable cost, Ill give it another go.Now I need to do some research.
