Seen an 06 1000DS half faired with what looks like 3 spoke Marchesinis in black. Having only seen the DS come with 5 spoke rims I am wondering what they might be and whether they were an option, say as an upgrade to Magnesium, available at the time?
Right, there can only be one realistic explanation. It has been crashed and the owner cheaped out on the wheel replacement. Looking at another one but he wants 3250, this one is up on ebay and he only wants 2600
Hmm I think I am happy spending the extra. It has 3 less owners, 2000less miles and is fully faired, which most days I prefer. Also, the vendor does not seem very friendly.
Saw that half faired one up for £2600. Looks a bit odd. Did they actually produce a half faired version with Ohlins and cheap wheels? I don't think so. Also, at that price I would have expected a genuine bike to have sold immediately so maybe all is not right? I'm going to wait for a half crashed Multi to come along for the DS, injection and ECU...
My thoughts are this last red frame edition only ever came fully faired. And all of the 1000cc bikes had the 5 spokes. I reckon it has been crashed and repaired with cheaper components. I might have gone to view it if I did not have my eye on this fully faired mint one and if the vendor had been a bit less cvnty in his communication with me. Ebay, it brings out the worst in people. You want the multi 1100ds?
It may have been an end of line parts bin special or a spec for another territory, its not unknown? Sounds like you are doing the right thing though, looking forward to the new bike thread soon
