I have a sticker on the frame tube by the vertical cam belt cover that says CRO15. I assumed this referred to the frame material, as in CroMo, but can find nothing to confirm that on Google. Can any of you knowledgeable types enlighten me?
Not a clue, but not too knowledgeable (about stickers with CRO15) but I can't see it meaning CroMo - pictures might help? What model / year is it, can't recall one on any of mine.
Your frame is made of ALS450, The Italians have a funny way of describing their products. ALS is a common USA way of referring to Alloy'd Steel, 450 is the makeup of their tubes, 450 includes Chromium, Molybdenum, Copper, Manganese, Nickel and very low carbon ALS450 is not like our CrMo 4130, it is rolled and welded seamed tubing equivalent to our mild steel tube. In other words nothing special. Ducati did use CrMo on some special homologation bikes back in the early 851 days but very rarely. Cro15 alledgedly is a type of cannabis
As you can see, on closer examination, the sticker says more than CR 015 - it says: SERVIZIO ASSISTENZA TECNICA campagna di richiamo CR 015
'SALES SERVICE recall campaign CR 015' It appears to mean this... So I guess later bikes may not have been subject to this recall, so won't be affected and won't carry the sticker
I could only see two recalls for the 999. One for brakes/hydraulics and the other for engine/engine cooling.
