Spent yesterday changing over the mirrors and handguards on my bike. It was a pain in the Ar*e as the connector for one was hidden right under the tank. Finally got it done, after dismantling half the bike and lifting the tank a bit to get to the connector. When I finished I started the bike with no issue. Today of course it doesn't want to start! Not sure if it's a weak battery or something I've dislodged during my bodging... Bike turns over weakly but nothing else....
Is the battery fully charged. I find if I leave mine for a while it doesn't want to start. A full charge solves it. Or a new battery.
Battery was on charge overnight and will be left on all day today. Will try again tonight. Any suggestions for the most suitable replacement battery?
I just changed mine to a motobatt high torque 1200 Ducati from wemoto.com. I believe there were some alternative wires from eBay you could use that increase the 'power' supplied during cranking.

Yup that's the one I have. Don't expect miracles but it seems to work with mine. My bike seems to take a good 2-3 turns to start anyway. I have a tracker, heated grips and aux lights so hopefully it will be able to handle this drain on an S model.
I'll try it again tonight. Dealer said you can jump start from a car battery BUT make sure car is not running. Need to 'prove' it's the battery causing the problem and not some of my other bodging. If it is then I will order one up.
I was working in Madrid for a couple of days so didn't had a chance to try the bike but I'd left it on a trickle charger while I was away. The dealer had also suggested disconnecting the battery and reconnecting as he said it sometimes helps when you have fitted new electrical components (and the Ohlins active ECU). Sure enough it started up first time. Might have just been the battery but if you have similar issues it might be worth trying.
with reference to the battery connectors - for what its worth, I have just changed my battery - just a replacement yuasa (like for like). because I'd noticed over a week or so (daily rider) that it wasn't starting after a couple of pushes on the button (had to use the throttle). Anyway the point was that on doing so, the negative connector wasn't screwed in 100%, so I thought maybe there was also an issue there. I replaced the battery, tighten the connectors, reset the f**** clocks back to English imperial colonial reliable measurements and the time back to Greenwich London time, and the bike seems to run better, starts first time and another odd things is that my clocks were flickering (every so slightly) which has stopped now and the engine temperature seems to be lower. bugs.
