Keith Huewen does my head in. Jules can't get a word in edgeways with him. Get the bald bloke back who used to commentate on Eurosport and the coverage would be fine.
I only watch the races and not interested or have time for the other stuff. I think the footage is good, it's just a shame they seem to have loads of errors or periods of lost picture on the replays.
The problem I had with Toby and Julie on Eurospurt was the waffle and in jokes and the reference to 70's or 80's races that only they can remember. Guffaw guffaw. Miss the live warm up, that was a great start to race day.
I have no issue with Keith and Julian. They were amazing around the mid-nineties WSB era and have improved a great deal since the shaky start of the initial MotoGP rounds this year . Hodgson is still pretty clunky on the grid walks and will never be as good as Azi Farni, Matt Roberts and Suzi Perry were. He has verged on being rude quite a few times and is constantly bigging himself up. Still, I'd rather have this than more soccer and snooker on TV all the time. If you want to hear shit commentators, try watching the classic races on the YouTube MotoGP channel. Utterly useless and cringeworthy especially given that they're overdubs. BSB commentary is really poor too, not sure how Whitham got that job. The bitching and whinging about the BT Sport coverage is strange, especially on Pistonheads.
It took me a while to warm to Keith Heuwen as a commentator but I think now he's beginning to bring something of his own to the viewers, when he points out some of the little technical things while they're happenning, like pulsing exhausts, chattering suspension or other things that brings an experienced eye to things on most races and qualifying. Eurosprt did have Spalding and Mamola before him to do similar but they tended to be a lot more sporadic over the season, so while I liked the Moody/Noyes/Ryder team with additional stuff now and then I think BT are making a decent go of things now
At least its all there to be seen . I got sick and tired of other channels deciding that the Golf or the fuckin Tennis was more important to be aired . Im glad they lost it and its now shown when its supposed to be and if it overruns theres no switching it off early to show some shite that the tosser in charge decided was better viewing .
Agree completely... bike sport coverage has been shite for years, not since the Foggy days and WSB have we had regular, good coverage! Hours and hours of all the practice and quaifying sessions in all classes... can't be bad! Can't understand all the whingers... If you want to watch regular Premier League you would have to pay whatever for Sky Sports... though why anyone would pay to watch overpaid, namby pamby foreigners bite each other and dive all over the place is beyond me!
I switched broadband to get BT Sport, purely for the Moto GP. I have no issues with the coverage or the commentary. Getting full coverage plus the extra is great.
Living in Abu Dhabi where bike racing isn't high on list of televisual events (camel racing and crap local football is very popular though) I watch BT Sport on an iPad app. It's actually not bad, even though I detest BT and it's certainly better commentary than the "third armpit" Australian twat the BBC used to have waffling away.
Sure is, Abu Dhabi Sports, every Saturday, usually without jockeys (it's cruel) but with robots. If you're interested, check this out……… Not quite like watching Rossi at his best but in this part of the world……………………………..
Wasnt really a fan of Jules before, but his style has won me over. Heuwen is abit '80s for me and Moody is/was a hyper active school boy, but they do know their stuff. Personally the dream team is Jules and Gavin Emmett in the box, with Spalders/Ian Wheeler in the pit lane. Although Wheeler works for MVDS at the mo. Come on BT, you know it makes sense
Well I like the coverage. I'm always amazed at folk who previously had no live MotoGP coverage that was consistent: EuroSport I watched delayed at the BBC coverage I didn't like. Now I get total coverage of the whole weekend in HD. It's their first season and they are tweaking the team and presentation and it will get subtly better. I want 3D next, in slo mo......
Agree it is getting better, Dorna miss some of the action but some of the slo-mo footage is incredible! I like the MotoGP Tonight too, it's a bit clunky and the presenters can be a bit overly enthusiastic.. the Marquez special was embarrassing ... but at least its another hour of bike telly
I'd like to tie the Moto GP television director to a tree and beat the crap out of him. I have no wish to see the rider's girlfriend or family in the pit garage or a tacitern japanese knob from honda on the pit wall when there is close racing on the track. Bloody formula 1 does it as well with the camera zooming in on a member of the pit crew. Having heard commentaries in a number of languages, I for one would forego any commentator telling me what I can clearly see but then I'm a grumpy old man . Andy
