Royum it's well known I can't spell or use my pc. I have come to terms with it though I do wonder if I tried harder at school I wouldn't be doing my shopping at pound land and driving a Capri ghia
And there was me thinking you were making a Jag (originally British) stand even though spending on our cousins across the pond with a Ford. Would like to see the photos though! ;-)
how can people get behind rubbish like royal weddings and other parasites stealing our money when we can build a legacy like this? Great job all of them, and great to see an British man win the 10000m, even if he's Somalian! well done!
What has always annoyed me about Britain is the second-rateness of it and the complacency that people have with thinking it's so marvellous, or the shooting down as elitist the things which truly are excellent. There is of course an admirable self-deprecation about much of Britain and an irreplaceable sense of humour, but you shouldn't use that as an excuse for not striving for excellence. What I have loved about the Olympics is that it seems to be first rate everywhere and maybe the British will wake up to the fact that not only can they be the best in sports, but more importantly, superb hosts, and capable of building incredible infrastructure on time. You have to admit, that after the O2 fiasco, Wembley stadium taking an age to build (over budget of course) and Terminal 5 being incapable of baggage handling, it comes as a massive and pleasant surprise to see the organisation and the venues which have contributed to these Olympics being quite exceptional. If you could carry that attitude over into more forms of government spending, perhaps people would not object so rabidly to tax. So yes, the Olympics have made me proud to be British (for one of the first times I can remember) but it goes much further than just the medals, although they are also indicative of a plan, the necessary funding and more importantly a vision. It's the lack of vision amongst politicians for as long as I can remember which has really got me down over the years (and contributed to my leaving the country a long time ago).
I just want see Victoria Pendleton again.......and again, and again and again..... and again, and again and again..... AL
Youve got to be so proud of all the athletes who've really given it their all. For me, the cyclists have been simply outstanding, but there have been so many highlight and wonderful stories. Fair play to anyone who strives to be the best that they can be irrespective of medals or glory. Well done team GB!
Mohamed was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. He was used to live not far from me when i lived in Heston for a cpl of years. He was a local hero and rightly so.
