Does anyone know where I can buy these at a reasonable price, £20 each on feabay!! Bit steep! Have searched for a stainless mesh to make my own but can't find a similar material!
Aluminium car body repair mesh. About £2.99 from halfrauds for an A4 sheet size bit and cut it to size yourself. If you're really fussy another £5.99 will get you some gold paint too. They were gold weren't they?

I have made plenty of these using the bridging mesh for fibreglass repairs, Isopon used to make them. Correct sized holes and easy to shape especially if you have an original set to copy from. They were silver and not gold throughout the whole range.
Will take a look at this, the aluminium mesh I bought on ebay turned up today and it's a little flimsy!
For what it's worth, the car repair mesh is really soft too, it's designed that way to form into repair panels. You can bend and shape it real easy. The strength with this comes from the fibre glass you put on top. It's not tough strong stuff like the standard Ducati part, that's probably steel. But once it's on so long as you don't start poking at it it looks the same.
Form them into the correct shape and fix them properly and they are fine, the advantage with making your own is that if one does get damaged they are easily replaced. Mine have last for years with no problem, if you fix them too loosely then vibration can make them split.

Just to revive this thread. I am looking to make some vents (actually for my Mito Evo not my 748). Has anyone found anywhere where you can buy the stainless Steel mesh?
Hi Bristol, mesh size is measured in number of squares per inch length. I have read that it’s 30mesh on the 916/748s, possibly the same on your 9/16th. I bought this from amazon by searching 30 mesh stainless. Does the standard mesh on most Ducatis not have a diamond pattern mesh? B&Q used to sell something very similar in aluminium, in both gauge and thickness.
