I've been nursing a back injury for over a year now and together with sciatica,it's been a nightmare trying to ride the 1198s as it agrivates my injury,I spoke to ricket Hackett from JHP Ducati coventry and he suggested putting gillie bars on the bike to raise me up by 17mm and to soften the suspension off. So fingers crossed this will be the best prescription Has anyone else used the bars and got good feedback from them.
I used them on a 900ssie and found them to be very good, made the bike a lot more comfortable for me.
I was suffering from neck and shoulder joint pain with my 999. I put cyclecat bars on it, about the same rise and it made a lot of difference. Might've sold the bike by now without them. On 999 a trick is to swap the bars to get easier riding position, don't know if it works with 1098.
Note: the Gilles bars have optional risers which increase the price - they don't come with them. I have two sets for my project bikes but not with risers - just so I have enough adjustment as I don't know where the fairing will end up exactly for clearance. Both mine were sourced off Ebay second hand for about £60 t0 £70.
I guess that was that with the risers - let me know when your selling them on Ebay - I'll have a third set for £60, in fact just PM me on here when your getting rid of the bike or if they don't work for you
I dropped the bike of at JHP DUCATI coventry on Saturday, the racing manager, rick hacket will work his magic with the suspension aswell.the gills bars look well trick,I just hope they give enough height to make a difference.to be continued
