1200 Bridgestone T30's

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by sauluk, Oct 17, 2014.

  1. Has anyone got these? By all accounts they're very good (fitted to Haslam bikes etc).

Can someone tell me whether the rear for the multi should be a GT or non-GT spec tyre? They have a different load rating, I don't need the GT as I don't carry a pillion or luggage but it seems to be the only one I can get hold of in a 55 profile. Will it affect the handling at all vs non-GT?

  2. cant see whay not, same wheels, and bike runs a 55 profile

  3. I have the T30's.

Don't get the GT's as they are aimed at lardy fully dressed mega tourers.

Mine are perfect (T30 FZ), did the Alps this year and very grippy and hardly any signs of wear after 2,800 miles :)

  4. Oh really? The only rear I could find was a GT. Will it really make a difference?

  5. They are different.

Note that the T30s are also available in a GT version for heavy motorcycles, which Bridgestone defines as fully optioned touring bikes weighing more than 551 pounds. They feature a cross-belt construction with a slightly modified pattern on the front, with a stiffer construction on the rear for additional stability. They can be identified by the GT designation on the sidewall.

What's that all about? Are you a moderator?

Catch yerself on lad, no need for that crap!

  7. I had T30s on my old MTS and will fit them again once the Scorpions wear out, great in wet,dry and rear lasted 6500miles. (non GT)

  8. So fit normal ones then ACT and the bike becomes unrideable, dangerous and illegal then

    Or maybe they won't..

  9. Paul....I'm interested.

What is your opinion of what the differences would feel like if you fitted the GT option instead of the non GT option.
Just want to know your thought process...and bear in mind you've actually been given some information to work with.

  10. Well it's s multi so whether a GT multi or normal multi it would feel no different with the std tyres fitted. They are round, they are black, they are rubber.

  11. If I read correctly - the standard T30's are ok for a MTS STouring - even with pillion?
When I priced T30's up, there was no mention of needing GT rated tyres - I'm going to double check on the Bridgestone site again.
The Pirelli's feel 'heavy' to me - so looking forward to getting back on Bridgestones.
Having said all of that - tyres = round and black - is about right. If you buy a decent set of tyres these days you'll be hard done by if you get a 'bad' set. They all do the same job - sometimes with a different feel e.g. how quickly they tip in.
It's all down to personal preference and confidence - rather than outright performance - I reckon..

  12. You are correct, you don't need the GT version. I think you'll find it harsh on a light bike like the the Mutley.

  13. I thought up there you were suggesting GT were needed?

  14. Nope, never said that nor alluded to it, unless you feel the Mutley weighs in at +551 pounds.:Shifty:
Which to be fair it does with us on it :Jawdrop:

  15. Thought that was youre 'if you don't know' bit hence my chipper comment ;)

  16. Looks like I'm stuck with the GT rear now anyway as I can't cancel the order, sure itll make no tangible difference

  17. Nah it will be fine I'm sure

  18. Just make sure you fit the 55 profile. I once had a 50 profile fitted and it ruins the handling, bike doesnt turn in at all, handled like a pig!
