Hi guys After some people's experiences. I'm looking to maybe convert my 2013 Panigale in to a track only bike. Just wondering if anyone has done similar on this forum?
Superb mate. How do you find it? Mines only the ABS non 'S' model. Iv heard the forks are plenty good enough. Not heard anything about the rear shock. I'd probably look to upgrade in the near future.
she started as an ABS model as I was always going to change the front and rear suspension to porper Ohlins. Loving it on track and still have a few more upgrades to do to before she`s complete. Going to change the HM plus qs for the latest Plus SS and then look at new exhaust headers
Use my S mostly on track these days as Nelson said. Seems the real world applications aren't so good with them so I started looking at the dream It's been an absolute blast to be honest and I'm in the process now of getting it more track orientated for next year. Have a set of the White DP fairings on order atm, had grabbed some CRC ones but I'm not hugely impressed with those tbh. Going to throw on a bit of carbon to try and protect some of the expensive stuff as well. Running costs are obviously a little higher than for others but I'm happy to go with that. And perhaps on some of the smaller tracks it's a bit of a handful if you know what I mean, but then I've been new to a lot of tracks this year so quite possibly just the rider there. Only issue I have had really is that it can be a bit fiddly on slow corners, you really need to be on that throttle control otherwise it's just a bit horrible.
Thanks form thatt Funnily enough I had issues wih CRC fairings on my S1000 Track bike. Had a massive falling out with Steve Hennegan from Reactive parts. He blamed me for not fitting them correctly, when Infact the fairings were shit and the fit was appalling Lol. I'll probably go for the DP fairings tbh. My aim is to stick to the European circuits really, with the odd Brands/Snetterton day
Err, they aren't for quiet days I don't think....mine standard blew 106 and 108 last year iirc the 2 times I had it tested (standard system). Oulton did have a think about letting me on, though it was fine on a 102 ride by. Don't know what they are like with termis and baffles in.
You want noisy day and drive by, seems they have a special dispensation most places from static as they never pass static. Except Combe, wouldn't even bother ! Lol
Spoke to a friend of mine today who runs the P&H 899 Panigale team about how bikes fair up in a crash. His answer was "just like any another bike really, Fagan had a 120mph low side at the end of the Wellington Straight at Silverstone and the only damage were levers & body work" The only written off bike hew knew of was a Pani that ghost rode in to the tyre wall at 80mph. Again, I doubt any bike would of come out of that well at all. That's sort of put my mind at rest tbh. Iv not crashed since 07 & I'm certainly not planning another anytime soon lol. Iv heard the Panis get special treatment when it comes to noise testing. The engine when running is super loud and can get picked up by the DB meter pushing the level up, causing you to get a high DB reading.
Russell, I purchased Race fairing kit directly from Ducati. Gives you all the fairings, seat unit, mirror blanks, headlight and tail light blanks & all electrical plugs and you also get the "R" wings......all fit perfectly for around £500, just need paint. The only downside is they are exactly the same as the original fairings, just unpainted, this means a fair amount of bolts holding them on. I know your troubles with the BMW fairings I experienced the same until I purchased your Alpha ones from you however I did have a set of Cruciata on the BMW and they fitted very well.....so I guess they are another consideration for you in the fairing department. Cheers Davy
Nice one cheers Davy. A pal was talking to me the others day about the DP fairings you mentioned. I think I'll be putting a set on order. I LOVE the paint on your 'R'. Looks amazing. Did you get that done locally to you? Can't believe the nightmare I had with the S1000RR fairings. Never will I be buying anything from Reactive Parts/Steve Hennagen ever again. If I ever bump in to him, I won't be held responsible for my actions lol
LOL, feel for you m8. And thanks for the compliment. Paint was done locally (for me) Bikepaints in Cupar.
a wouldn't take that as gossple u can write a bike off at 20mph and be ok at 120 mph all depends on luck,
Absolutely. Its all about luck. The Duke in my profile pic end over ended in to a gravel trap. The only damage was fairings and dented tank. Think I got away quite lucky. The one thing iv learned is NOT to fit R&G crash bungs (the fork sliders and swingarm sliders are ok) If anything these cause more trouble in an off as they can dig in and flip the bike over. Ok for a small spill on the road though
