And Now The First Question

  1. As the title says this is probably going to be the first of many. So the first item I'm working on is the fuel tank. I have managed to extract 5 of the grub screws from around the filler plate, but 3 of the little devils are being a little difficult in the extreme to remove.

So a T7 won't grip, so I am getting a T8 and T9 torx bit to try and grip. After that I suppose its try and drill out the grub screw? Are there are other options I could consider.

  2. Bloody big 'ammer :)

  3. Hm.... nice idea, but the tank is sound and I would like to re use it

  4. Mine was found to have 3 sheared grub screws when removing the filler plate recently. I'm sure a sealant would be just as effective....?

  5. Torx? Pretty sure mine were just socket heads...

  6. agree think just allen key head

  7. Ok chaps, mine are 2mm allen key sockets, the use of a Torx bit is a well known trick to get allen socket bolts out if the socket has rounded out, but I might change to Torx during the rebuild.

  8. With those small allen screws, try an Imperial size.......had to do that with some 2mm ones.

  9. keep soaking in wd40 (or similar) and move on to the next bit - come back to it later...

you have plenty else to work on in the meantime.
