Have too say this was certainly the best track day I've been on as regards red flags.not one session stopped to my knowledge.apart from the odd run off I don't think anyone threw there bike down the road.says a lot for Ducati owners, good track day riders or top handling bikes or a bit of both.fair play to all that went.
Yea couldn't believe how quickly the track dried out!! Had a few good sessions in the afternoon. In all we had six good 20min Sessions Pretty good considering the weather when we arrived
In spite of the light rain early on, the morning sessions were good. Not one Red flag which says something for the quality and perhaps clear heads of Ducati riders. On any normal trackday, there is usually one numpty hero who bins his bike as soon as the sighting laps are over! The sun squinted through the grey cloud cover and after lunch the track was dry, knee down time.... Big grin. I'd read all the negative comments about FE and thought we would have loads of problems, but found them to be very efficient, helpful and polite. There were no issues with noise either, as the limit for the day was 118Db ! A great day and track, I had a chance to chat with Steve Plater, Niall Mackenzie, Neil Hodgson and Mick Grant. The Bike Safe people were there, handing out vouchers for free courses with them, I think Ducati had a hand in sponsoring them. Bike Safe is the best training course I've ever done, changed my riding style forever. There was even a woman pc biker flying round, fair play, she'd never done a trackday before and was in the fast group with Hodgson on her police bike. Hodgson was assessing her on track and then they were going out on the road, where she would be assessing him. There was plenty of press interest so the story will probably be printed the the bike mags sometime soon. A great day, all sorts of Ducatis going round from a 900ss and Hailwood Replica, to Desmos and loads of Panigales. Well done Ducati UK and Focussed Events and everyone who took part. Neo
Oy phoenixboy, was in same garage as you -i sat out morning sessions and we chatted whilst watching at melbourne loop, Heres a little vid of me wobbling around on my new 1199 Donington park trackday 31/07/2012 on ducati 1199 panigale - YouTube
That's my 999s next door to you too! The old girl felt a tad underpowered compared to the rocket powered Panigale!
Great day, well-run, FE appeared to be friendly, reasonable and organised (despite various previous comments to the contrary). Donington is a very enjoyable track. I loved the first couple of sessions in the wet most of all, because I was doing plenty of overtaking. Later on in the dry sessions, they were all overtaking me!
Really enjoyable day, didn't make it out in the morning due to slicks but had a great time in the afternoon!! Can only echo what Pete1950 said about Focussed Events, seemed to be a very well run day and the FE staff were great! Just to say, a real big thank you to Ricky from JHP for sorting my rear brake issue. Got me straight back out on track, nothing too much trouble!!
Good too meet you guys.good day in the end, looking good coop, watched your footage.enjoy that bike coop.
Great day. I rode there in the rain, but weather came good from late morning onwards. Very friendly crowd, and considerate riding on track. I was riding my white 848, first time with it on track. Enjoyed the day no end. Last one in as learning the ropes, but really enjoyed it. Apologies to anyone that I might have held up! FE ran a good day. Great group of guys in our garage. Well worth the soaking on the way up. Steve
Who are you going with? Given the weather we have had this year, am tempted by another Euro trip before year end. Can't take much more English weather!
It was the lousy weather here and the good deal that persuaded me to book a place. None of my mates can go this time, so I'm hoping to share car hire with others. Neo
Neo, Thanks. Am in much the same position here. I meant which company did you book it with? Maybe I can be persuaded....
