misfire on 1098s

  1. anyone have any ideas? my 1098s with 5.5k miles has a missfire,at a constant throttle 3-4 thou revs ie town riding, the bike feels like a pit lane speed control is in use. it feels like its misfiring but if your hammering on either you dont notice or its not happening. any ideas?

  2. Are you slipping the clutch? My bike is awful at 30mph which is first gear about 4-5000rpm and have to slip it to make it smooth enough to ride.

  3. My 1098 does something very similar when around 30 in 2nd or 3rd. Like you describe as if the ECU is cutting fuel or spark to one cylinder.

I just put it down to one cylinder being taken out at low throttle openings to prevent it surging, mine has always done it and behaves fine when you give it more gas on the open road.

I think its normal, as the bike behaves fine once the speed and throttle openings rise.

  4. thanks for replys. im not slipping the clutch. the miss is even there if you rev the bike in neutral and hold a constant 3k revs,i dont feel its normal as my 1098 base didnt do this. i was thinking it may be a coil breaking down?????

  5. Then it looks like a little trip to the dealers Im afraid :frown:
