  1. Can't find the springs think I binned em, the mating plate surface is the first to touch and the spring pockets are 12.5mm deep

  2. i believe so... I ve not the correct tools at the min to check.. and im in bed now :) no, ive not double checked that and its my next port of call,,,,but as i said its no longer leaking oil so i dont think (first mistake) that is the prob?

  3. The height of the posts on the drum will also effect the compression of the springs so worth checking. FYI the spring caps can be got in different thicknesses. Can't remember where I saw a link to them though

  4. the main nut will be 25mm internal thread for the 748. The main nut is 40mm internal thread for the 1098. I think. Other than that I dont see a problem. I have a 916 STM 48t in my 1198. I just needed the larger nut. Stack height is a bit trial and error and an easy task.

  5. The pressure plate springs are defo different....If that helps!

  6. I have a Sigma slipper clutch and that fits all models from 748 to 1098 and the only difference is the clutch hub nut, the rest should fit across the board so it should apply if you used a stock non sipper clutch. I would say your problem lies in the pressure plate, the springs or the spring caps or a combination of.

There are also two lengths of pushrod for the clutch, are you using the correct one for the setup? especially if you are using an aftermarket slave cylinder.

  7. The spacer may be different too. The one under the clutch.

  8. Shieeat...now im proper confused!!!! used the complete 1098 clutch apart from one component... spacer/nut/drum... i cant remember.... using the longer (1089 push rod) as i have the oberon slave and the 748 one needs the extension. All this talk of different springs/caps/nut/spacers and what not is frying me brain as iv nothing to compare what i have to except i have the standard (1098) pressure plate and apart from cosmetics its the same as the oberon one im (trying to use) springs and caps also after market but are same as the old 748 ones i still have...

  11. errrrr... im a Muppet... turns out (well so far after a 10 mile test today) it was the freeplay at the lever (or lack of ) that was the prob... If i had a clue i'd feel daft as fuck right now!

  12. Well done. Often with these things you ave to stepway to see the true path...

  17. lol... true that... but im workin on them to...well making em worse, but its something..

  18. When I was reading up on the quiet clutch mod, I came across a post by someone who'd modified their clutch cover to contain a small quantity of oil in order to reduce noise and wear. He reckoned the dry plates worked perfectly well as semi-wet.
Ducati clutches are, by all accounts, all very similar so I can't help wondering if their wet plates and dry plates are the same as well...

  19. Not sure mate. But i turns out the oil wasn't the prob and the leak was solved but putting the standard crankcase breather back on..
