899 Pcp

  1. I bought my 899 on a pcp deal and I recently got an email from Ducati about an annual service. I don't really want to go to the dealer I bought it from but a Ducati/italian bike specialist. Is there any issue with me not using the main dealer?

  2. technically no. as long as its a vat registered garage and they use OE filters consumables etc. but in reality if theres an issue and a warranty claim they'll wriggle out of it.

  3. You can use any Ducati dealer. One in particular who post on here only does servicing and very good work he does too.

  4. Imho I would use main dealer until the warranty is out

  5. As Bradders said, get it done at a Ducati dealer, not worth the hassle if you have a warranty claim.

Three service coupons must be used to ensure continued validity of the conventional warranty Ducati offers consumers: at 1,000 km (or six months), 12,000 km (or 12 months) and 24,000 km (or 24 months), to be performed by any official Ducati workshop. In the case of the Hypermotard, Hypermotard SP and Hyperstrada bikes, starting with model year 2013, service coupons are for 1,000 km (or six months), 15,000 km (or 12 months) and 30,000 km (or 24 months). The warranty will be forfeited if the bike is repaired or overhauled by an unauthorised workshop, or if non-original parts are used; the warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, overloading and improper or negligent use, and does not apply to motorcycles used in sporting competitions of any type; motorcycles which are rented out are particularly subject to wear and damage as use and maintenance may not always be performed in accordance with the instructions in the Service Booklet.

  6. You can take it to any VAT registered garage and as long as servicing is done within manufacturers recommendations and OE parts used then your warranty is still valid and they can not wriggle out of it.

  7. No idea, but why take the chance
Can't see the savings warrent the risk

  8. In the service schedule it also requires the machine to be plugged into the DDS devide to check for any important electronic updates, to check for stored errors, to clear these errors after rectifying them?
Can you check for outstanding recalls required on the bike?
Can a Non-Ducati dealer carry all of this out for you? How much would you save by going to a Non-Ducati dealer?
Also, have you checked the conditions of the PCP deal as to how their bike should be serviced etc.
You may be breaching the terms of the PCP deal as well as possibly voiding any future warranty claims.
Up to you in the end but bear these points in mind before saving a few pounds.

  9. As DD says I'd check the T&C's of the PCP.

Cornerspeed and G-Tec are the only approved, official service centre's as far as I'm aware, other than those two it's an official dealer.

  10. That isn't true for bikes, only for cars.

  11. I'm sure when I bought my 848 I was told it had to be the official dealer/service centre but that was 1 1/2 years ago so the memory has dimmed considerably since then.....

  12. Who told you that?

  13. Doesn't void the warranty it just means you could have a fight on your hands.

So easy life says take it to a franchised dealer which wont give the manufacturer a reason to cause a head ache should you need to do a warranty claim.

  14. For the sake of an extra few quid and the peace of mind just take it to the main dealer

  15. Main dealer, its a no brainer. 12.5k bike its not worth the potential hassle to save a few quid on a service.

  16. Just had my 1199 first annual service at main dealer and there was an update in the software, I don't think that's something an independent would know? To spend a couple of hundred quid once a year on a service ain't a hardship, I've a 250 mile round trip to boot and that's the nearest dealer Ducati Glasgow

  17. Just a thought if you decide to keep bike and want to extend warranty I guess it would need to be main dealer serviced.

  18. My 7500 service cost £155. Main dealer. Cant see what the issue is.

  19. What was that for Bradders? My first annual service for my 899 that was performed just last week cost me £225.
