watching the programs the police down south appear a lot more chilled. maybe it's the nature of the roads and the drivers/riders they attract, possibly the incident numbers per head, but feck me, they is raj up here.
Why choose 85mph as an indicator, puff... b road 175 indicated, not big not clever, yeh fuk it, was big and cleaver at the time :Finger: who would seriously admit to dropping as low as 85!
I think that there are quite as many petrolheads in Switzerland as anywhere else, and it is true that many have the means to purchase some of the best products the automotive industry has to offer. It is also true that the roads are superb and rarely straight - surprisingly much wider (and better surfaced) than UK roads in the main. But there is not one racetrack in the entire country. Makes the ridiculous limits all the more ridiculous. I've never experienced a "canyon racing culture" but there are plenty of people who refuse to crawl around at the legal speeds - pretty much like anywhere else, really.
Perhaps the answer is not ever more powerful and capable cars & bikes but the opposite. There is a lot of fun to be had driving flat out in a Citroen 2cv and you still get to lean round the bends ! I even had a traffic officer with a hand held speed thingy turn round & ignore me when he saw the gorgeous red & white Citroen approaching regardless of the massive speed I was carrying. And you can drive across a field wearing a hat with a basket of eggs on the seat without breaking a single one. Try that with your fancy modern whatever it is.
Think you will find a modern Range Rover will out perform a 2CV over a ploughed filed in a 'non' egg breaking competition
Says the LRJ man, more fun in the 2cv. Kind of agree with the analogy as I have more fun on my 2 ducs than the preceding 'faster' more powerful bikes of the past near 30 yrs riding
You are kind of missing the point I think. Get yourself a pack of Gauloises, roll back the 2cv roof and smile at life.
Haven't a chance to fecking speed where I am. Been in the car half an hour, done 1 mile. It will take half an hour to do the next mile. Speeding my ass
Nope the replies were missing the point - don't disagree with the 2CV being a more romantic and enjoyable experience especially with bobbling boobies at the side of you - I was just being factual as the comparison with the 2CV's egg carrying antics Vs any modern car was silly
