  1. Sorry if I sounded despondent, that wasn't my intention. You have caught this early so I think you will be able to get it repaired quickly and reasonably. I guess you have a guarantee. Get the most out of it ;)

  2. Its either vey bad luck/timing or it was like this when shop pre checked and sold the bike to you. This is the problem I was referring to in post 32.This is also why I fit renthal or bucci etc sprocket carriers to ducatis.

Hopefully the dealer that sold the bike to you may offer you a bit of cash back to get it sorted out of offer to pick up, fix and return bike to you.

  3. No, it's fine, you didn't. I'd rather have everyone's input and the benefit of there knowledge and experiences.

  4. Matt - I hope so, it's 100 miles away so a real pain. I really don't want to be riding round wondering if its about to breakdown all the time, that will take all the fun away.
    Feel a little sad :-(

  5. Just re-read your post 32 Matt, you sure know your stuff.

  6. It should be fine but if not say you want your money back and they can come and collect the bike.Id be telling them to fit a brand new hub while they are replacing cush drives if they agree to repair also as the one on your bike now shows signs of wear no matter how minor.

Oh and don't forget to upgrade those connectors for the rectifier if you choose to keep the bike.

  7. Can I ask for my money back?
    What rights do I have?

  8. Which post was this?

  9. Not sure your exact legal rights and my advise might be illegal and see you charged with gbh and affray if bike dealer starts getting arsey. Some others on this forum should be able to tell you exactly what your rights are regarding not fit for purpose when sold etc.

I would have thought the least they have to do is collect the bike ,repair and then return free of charge to you.Im sure if goods sold are faulty then you can accept a exchange or demand a full refund.Works that way in retail anyway no sure on motor trade.

Check post 76 for connector mods to rectifier.

  10. :)
    I bloody hope so.
Feel a little sorry for them too. They are not a big chain. They didn't want this and I don't feel they were trying to move on a dodgy bike.
Sometimes, shit happens and nobody is a winner. This will probably cost them all their profit unless they have some sort of warranty cover.
Matt, if your ever down Aylesbury way on a Sunday I will buy you a bacon roll and a cup of tea at OnYerBike.

  11. Im not sure of legal rights either but the seller must sell you something thats fit for purpose. If they are a decent shop Im sure a phone call will bring about a resolution.(Hopefully:upyeah:)

  12. Hope so Keith, they seemed like good guys.
Frikin 4 month old BKS race gloves ripped today putting them on too. Not been a great day!

  13. Give me a chance to make good the situation, as if they aren't Ducati dealers, they might have only given the bike a quick once over.

  14. Id stay in tonight if I was you as bad luck comes in threes.I thought BKS was good kit.

Im sure if dealer is decent they should see you right. On a good note if hub is only very slightly scuffed then not really a problem.Anymore than scuff and id want a new hub that costs about £350 including vat so the repair is done right.

  15. Now you've got a Ducati, that experience will follow as you encounter the odd foible. They're worth the extra hassle. Next your Reg/Rect will fry. Then you clutch slave cylinder will blow a seal and the oil seal behind the clutch will leak. You're arse, back and wrists will hate you.

  16. Arse, back and wrists are fine, my other bike is a 600SRAD so even more track focused. I can even see a little of the mirrors and the clocks unlike the Suzuki. I think the RAC man and me may become good friends.

  17. Ha ha CR bet your thinking "why the fook didn't they tell me this when I was looking for advice" don't worry mate easy fix & damage looks minimal

  18. Oh they did, Matt told me to look for exactly this. But it was just so shiny and sounded so sexy my brain shut down and my dick took over and I ended up in the same mess I always do when that happens.

  19. Yes, know the feeling. Two heads but only enough blood in the body to run one at a time - usually ends badly.

But the cush drive problem really isn't too bad to fix and I'm sure they will sort under warranty but that will probably just be a basic repair i.e. replace the one cush. So I'd be upgrading to the 'bomb-proof' Renthal jobbie and I doubt they'll stretch to that FOC...

  20. There is an even simpler fix, don't know how common it is but when I got my 998 the standard sprocket had been " centre punched" on the rear of the cush drive holes just enough to prevent them moving through it.
