On the 1198 which is the easiest method to achieve a quicker action throttle. I see that Domino and Accosato both sell tailor made kits for c£120 to £140 but have seen reference to using Yamaha R1 or R6 throttle tubes as an alternative. Bear in mind that I have the gentle touch of a Russian wrestler who is wearing oven mitts when it comes to working on things so suggestions that involve lots of complex alterations wont work. All ears Allan
the Domino or Accosato will give a quicker action than the R1. some of the dedicated kits come with alternative cams so you can pick which suits you best. the R1 tube is an improvement over standard and is a much cheaper option.
there are also these available... Electraeon Fast Throttle Cam for Ducati motorcycles. which is a quicker cam that fits on side of the throttle bodies. I have one of these and it does the job nicely...
R1 goes straight in. R6 requires some subtle grinding/dremel work. R1 may nor be enough if you're think of track/race work. :Bookworm:
SteveO does the fast cam at the TB's make the throttle action any lighter, as I found it both long in travel and heavy in action. Nelson is there a part number for the R1 throttle tube and then I can examine all of the options A
Joking mate. :Angelic: 26240-02-00 IIRC this will take you from a 1/4 to 1/5 twist. You may also have to fiddle with the throttle adjusters.
mines on a 916. the cam makes the action shorter, but didn't really notice it being "lighter" as i didn't feel the 916 was heavy anyhoo. can't say for a 1098 as only ridden one briefly on road
I found the R1 tube to be unnoticeable in action from the standard set up. I know have the Accosato one on the middle of the 3 cam settings and will try the most aggressive setting next time out
Venhill another optipn, had several and always worked well. And cheaper...less of an issue if its oride and joy bike
Hello Allan, We have tested both the Domino and Accosato and would say the better quality and finish would be the Domino version and both brands come with Variable cams so you can setup the quick throttle to your road or Track requirement. Also both of the above brands don't need much fettling about for installation
