Hi Guys

  1. Hi everyone,

Well I did it. I had a beautiful 2012 Honda Fireblade 1000 in black. One of the best bikes I have ever owned. Then I saw the Monster 1200S. Took it out and love it. Plus........it gives me a little more manoeuvre in relation to going away on longer jaunts with my lovely lady.

Its on order and coming very soon.

I suppose really the only thing that worries me; in fact not really worries me, is that it obviously is not as smooth as my inline 4 Blade, I am just assuming it will take me a bit to get used to the throttle and the clutch and learning to smooth it out.

Any opinions, thoughts etc are welcome.

Im in Herts so if anyone is around here and fancies a ride let me know.

    Oh.................thanks for having me!!!!

    J

  2. Welcome to the world of V-Twin torque. You will soon learn to love the lumps of power over the smooth spinning of a 4. Its a different type of riding experience.

  6. Welcome! That's a very different riding experience :) You just need to get used to using the clutch a bit to smooth it out through traffic and you'll soon be perfectly happy. They are quite a civil bike to ride around town on compared to other big Ducatis, and they go hooligan well also so you will not regret it.

I love the Monster 1200s, it's a very good bike to ride. I took one out at Silverstone that belonged to the California Superbike School and it is possibly one of the most fun track sessions I've ever had. They are obviously no where near as quick round a track as the Blade but they are soooo much fun to hang off of like a crazy man around corners. It felt like dirt track racing after being on my Panigale. They love going sideways on the brakes into corners in a very nice way. They are many of the CSS instructors favourite bike to go out on which says something when you consider they have Panigale 899 and 1199 there as well.

  17. Hey. I'm a Duc owner for a whole 1 week and had Jap 4's before so know where your coming from. I'm looking forward to learning the twin but kept my SRAD as backup. I live in Herts too, Berkhamsted, so give me a buzz when the sun returns and we can take a ride and chat about how awesome Duc's are and why on earth we didn't get one years ago.

  18. Sounds good matey. Ill send you a message with my number.

    Cheers

    Jon
