Thanks for all your input on the first opinions thread, now we have son of opinions thread! Swingarms: underslung brace : Manly banana swingarm top braced or single sider on anything other than a ducati or RC30: ta
Horses for courses - I just went under braced as I had to - no other option for the geometry of the bike...
Yzr all the way, will try to get sorted next week with the material. Do not go single sided only looks good on rc30's and 916's. Under brace looks crap as well
Totally agree baldy, the under braced leaves a massive gap under the seat which I’m not sure I like. Single sided just remind me of all those readers specials with vfr swingarms when the 916 came out and just how rubbish they looked. Street fighters just remind me of those Performance bike last page specials, where anyone who’d binned an EXUP or Gixxer would polish the frame and swingarm to hide the motoliner stretch marks, and then put renthal flat bars on it and buy a simpson bandit and a paddock jacket, as it was cheaper than replacing a fairing.
Got a single sided thing bolted to my current steed, though it is a poor technical solution. Swing arms should pivot along the line of the chain-drive sprocket, be slightly downward sloping front to rear, and double sided for effective function...... not a fashionable but definately a correct engineering solution answer. Ideally some sort of parallelagram device, not dissimilar to that employed by BMW on their shafty's, is better still.
