Do You Ride Your Pride And Joy All Year?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by PETE R, Nov 20, 2014.

  1. Do you ride your no1 through the winter?
I did on the r1200gs but it took its toll : ( So the 848 will only see the odd dry ride this winter..
I have an all weather bike in my crf250m and the van for when I can't be arsed..
If you do ride the big red through the winter which one?
Very doable for my 250 mile a week commute on a multistrada say but would I wont the deterioration!
    Nope!

  2. used to on my 900ss and then on the 748 but since rebuilding it,it will only see dry days (god willing!) aint fused about the cold but ice and grit will probably mean no riding for a couple of months i guess...

  3. I'll ride any time it's dry, can't be doing with getting wet, but being fat I don't feel the cold. Looking after the bike is the easy bit.

  4. Yes, ride the Hyper all year unless torrential rain, snow, ice or just too cold.
Always wash it after they grit the roads which is a pain in the ............

  5. Where possible yep

  6. All year ? I don't even ride the uncomfortable thing for more than the thirty minutes it takes to make my wrists ache

  7. I commute on my Monster all year round, save if it's icy or snowy (or I've had so little sleep that I'd be a liability on 2 wheels). My Ducati is definitely a workhorse not a show pony, and is starting to show its mileage (nearly 39,000) as I'm not an assiduous bike cleaner.

  11. Not keen on the rain or salt on the roads otherwise the 748 gets used all year.

  13. I've put the 848 away. I saw one for sale when I was looking that had done a winter. Wasn't pretty. Got a vfr that's done 4years in all weathers. It's not showroom anymore but it's not got that speckled brown effect either!

  14. Yeah baby

  15. No chick at the moment, but I ride a female friend all year round, but infrequently - more in the summer as she likes going out on the motorcycle too

  16. Damn....I just saw the title of this thread and was going to say "it's the only way to keep them happy" and I see others beat me to it.

  17. At least you're slow at something :)

  18. I'll have to get you a HILF T-shirt, think MILF and replace with hand.

  19. Lucky to have two bikes. The Ducati stays in the garage and the FireBlade gets daily duty
