Do You Ride Your Pride And Joy All Year?

  1. I'm thinking of another Russian Model next myself, had a couple in the past, the last Czech Model was a little temperamental but I shot up her exhaust and 9 months later, well, you know the rest I'm sure... Doncha just love em, 2 wheels or two Boobies, whichever you were talking about :Finger:

  2. My #1 is my track bike, so technically no I don't ride it all year round. But, up until getting knocked off recently and buying a cheap car while waiting for the insurance to sort my bike out, I only had bikes for transport, so it'd be out in the snow if that was what the weather was. I just modify my journey to use bus routes as much as possible as these are usually gritted. Winter gives me chance to slide a bike around and pretend to be Marquez, i'm too scared in the dry as the speeds too high to risk getting it wrong.

  3. I have to admit I don't ride the duke all year round really

    just when its working ............

  4. Haven't ridden many Russian models. I do know they can look good when new but things deteriorate alarmingly with age and before you know where you are its all heads scarves and onion breath.
Czech models have been known to win races if given a good thrashing but I believe they smoke a lot.

  5. My Czech model hated me smoking and never smoked herself but gave me a concession on our wedding day

  6. I think the smokeless ones run on ethanol.

  7. Nope, Slivovice, home grown 80% proof plum brandy ;)

  8. Blue flames on the over-run then. Mind you don't scorch your back wheels...

  9. Currently still using the 899 Panigale - got my drz400 sm all ready for when I want to use it just have not gone and got it yet

Will use the Ducati for a bit longer until it becomes really cold and wet

Even in wet and sport mode it still does not fell all that stable - prob the corsa tyres it's on

Maybe I will give it a couple more weeks before I put it away and use the fun machine drz400sm

Also the drz is much better on fuel so will cost less to run

  10. Nope the 749 gets put up for winter only coming out on days when the sun is out and theres not frost, I use my little chinese lexmoto 125 scooter through out the winter and bad weather to commute on, and TBH its been more reliable than the 749 as it starts everytime in crap weather and never misses a beat.... i can even get 70 out of it (GPS, down hill with the wind behind me lol!)

  11. I need to get my confidence back up on the DRZ as had problems with it last year all sorted now but before i commute into town i need to get out on it on a sunday and give it a good run to get my brain thinking all is ok again, but never seem to get sunday to my self to do this other things always prop up

washed the panigale last saturday at work hoping it would stay dry so i can take it home and put it to bed for the winter but it piss+d it down on the way home so is covered in filth again

plus need to bring it into town to have the tyres swopped over this weekend

  12. Ive a carb and a crankshaft for a DRZ. Just saying. :)

  13. I ride the 2013 Streetfighter s all year round but keep the 2005 cat c hornet for sunny summer days.

  14. You sure you got that the right way round.

  15. Absolutely no!

  16. It`s so that when the hornet breaks down I won`t be stranded in the cold and wet.

  17. Nope. I have a green-laner for bimbling around on when its cold, wet and salty on the roads.

  18. Well...
This winter I will be keeping the 848 on the road for crisp sunny weekend days above freezing:upyeah:

I plan on using my tracer for my 250 m a week commute while it's safe and fun to do so..with my heated vest..magic!

For the crappy days it will be my warm van with Oxford vest plugged in until it heats up:D

  19. No, it takes it's toll on the bikes. Salt and crap gets into all the nooks and crannies that your sponge can't, the bike will suffer. I also hate being cold and wet and get no enjoyment from riding on cold slippery roads either. I even take the commuter scooter off the road from Nov - Feb time.

I do love cold slippery conditions on a motocross bike though, probably because I don't care about the bike and it's good fun, even coming off.

  20. what ?? in the cold , dark , and wet,, are you kidding,,, got a car for that..
