Sat 29th Nov - Ride Out (south England)

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by AirCon, Nov 26, 2014.

  1. I didn't put this under the Box Hill club thread, as it seems to have lost it's way.:Banghead:

    I'm feeling very positive about the weather for Saturday.:p
    Outlook for Friday to Sunday
    Mainly dry and breezy on Friday, with some bright or sunny intervals developing. Mostly dry over the weekend with lighter winds, and some brighter spells, especially in the south (that's us).
    9-13°C ....we cannot complain.

    So where shall we meet and where should we go?
    I'm based at Heathrow and a good day out for me is 250-400 miles (MTS1200 PP).
    I'll edit this primary post with the best (popular?) suggestions.

    OK based on the responses to 3pm on Wed.

    Meet at
    09:00 Box Hill, Dorking...coffee / refuel (RH5 6BY) <leave at 09:45>
    10:30 The Chalet, Cowfold Coffee (RH13 8DU) <leave at 11:45>
    A272 across country to Loomies.....Alton's not far, possible Station Cafe Alton Station?
    @turkish plus 2
    @royalwithcream
    @zx6ghost
    @AirConTechnical
    So far have expressed an interest.

    I'm sure we may have done this before?

  2. where abouts are you based?

  3. West London (Heathrow).

  4. Got to get some tyres changed on sat so depending one where and what time you end up I may be in

    I am based Egham Way Virginia water etc

  5. We're based in Kew and game for a ride out, we were considering Boxhill way as well but open to ideas. Oxford way looks like ok weather as well, although going south is probably a little bit of a better bet? I may need to pick the Panigale up from Snell Performance so Alton might be an option; A272 is a classic road.

  6. Hi I'm from Farnham but am up for a ride on sat need to get a few miles on my 899 over the weekend so it's ready for its first service.
    Will be around three of us if this is ok with you as I know some people don't like riding in big numbers.

  7. @turkish it would be a delight to have you with us..just post up at what section \ time you'll join us.
    The route is easy, so the quick ones can fly...I'm easy to spot in your mirrors, so I can be the back marker.
    We are all Ducati riders, so capitalism and natural selection means we can all count. Should be able to keep the group together.

  8. Off to the Cotswolds house hunting. Not ridden in weeks.

  9. Doh...would like to have caught up...jealous are you moving?

  10. First world problems.

    Miss Pineapple is running early in the morning so not sure we'll be able to meet you at Boxhill but hopefully can meet along the way somewhere if we're popping along.

  11. As per my response to @turkish just let us know your numbers and rough plan and I can add it to post one.

  12. Yep, in new year, work in Bristol now and a 240 mile daily commute, with a good 8hr day, and the cost of fuel....plus the roads are way better out there ;)

  13. My brother (who works with or for me. Or instead of) used to do 160 miles a day, just moved to welling from Hastings, now an 80 miles daily commute.

  14. 5 hrs driving is harder than the 8 hrs working, plus I've put on over a stone in the two months since I stared, no time for anything else :(

  15. We have one more meeting us at around mid day.
    Where are you,the group planning on being around that time?

    Not sure of the late timings as some people only do 1\2 a day. We normally gain one or two and loose around half to first world issues. Yes loonies is under new management.
