At the show now. Disappointed with the new model lookswise. Much prefer my 2013S. Will test ride before making a final decision but it's looking like I will try to bag an unused 2014 vintage PP in April, as I will have done 20,000 miles by then, and then see if the next update is any better. What are others' thoughts?
Bugger!!! was looking forward to seeing the new model. My 2014 MTS will be up for sale soon as the all important missis doesn't get on with the skyhook suspension so was looking at the manual option, plan B could be the BMW XR or R1200RS , will have to wait till Sundays visit
What is her problem with the Skyhook? Sure it's not that the seat that's too hard? Might be worth trying an Airhawk pad. My missus had no problems with Skyhook when we did 3,500 miles round France last summer in less than two weeks. Mind you, she only weighs 8st. My a*** was very sore though, as I weigh considerably more, so I may invest in an Airhawk for myself before next summer's jaunt.
The BMW's mentioned wont be available until next June at the earliest. Seems bizarre to show bikes that no one can buy until next season is half finished. Airhawk's are brilliant for big miles. Personally i like the new bike but am in no hurry to change until the end of next year.
Its not the comfort, she found my 2011 MTS the most comfortable bike we've ever had, its the ride, on the back she complains of the constant movement under her, makes her nauseous!!!, tried a demo skyhook at Riders etc and no difference, skyhook just doesn't suit her (she's 9st) I,ve even had the bike into JHS racing to get the settings correct for 2 up and although it improved the handling and specially the front end it didn't make the constant movement better, she complains that she can feel every ripple, stone, road surface etc, (JHS spent some time with different setting) its been back to Riders several times who confirm its 100% ok so its time to give in and find an alternative hence the interest in the RS or XR although the RS isn't an option if not in showrooms till mid year, might be a 2014 manual MTS then.
New model likes: silencer shape, cruise control, USB on dash, engine finish Dislikes: heavy nose cone, pad on tank, overall looks less quirky and a bit Jap!
The bikes on show at the NEC are pre-production models and i suspect the engine finish may change. How can you not like the cruise control until you have seen it work?
I was there today and it was lovely and quiet. Very impressed with new Multi and the only disappointment was the little storage box has gone! Power point for satnav is good though.

I feel exactly the same. Just add a Qat D exhaust, above, maybe to get the look closer to perfection.
I went to the NEC on sunday, and to be honest I was somewhat 'underwhelmed' by the new Multi (and the Scrambler). 1299 was very pretty though. I think I'll hang on to my 2013 Touring S for a couple more years. I really really want a Norton cafe racer works out about the same cost as a Diavel carbon. I was planning on a Diavel for my 50th Birthday next year, but after seeing the Norton, I really have changed my mind. Hoping to visit the Norton factory and have a test ride in the next few weeks. At least the waiting list period gives me some time to save up the 18k. I also really liked the Indian range, I'm worried that I'm turning into a homo. I'm sure a test ride of an Indian will be enough to scare me off wanting one as soon as the first corner appears! Deaks
Norton is pretty. Not sure it's worth the money though. Paying for exclusivity? Test ride will reveal all I guess. Not sure my 6ft 2in frame could cope with the riding position after 37 years on sports/naked bikes before switching to the supremely comfortable MTS.
No you want this norton. So nice. I felt the multi looked more bulky at the front too. I quite like it but only had mine for a year, love it even with its quirks. Not sure I'm too fussed bout cruise control. It is a nicety but it's a bike and I like putting throttle inputs in on a nice twisty road.
I wish you luck with that then. When i was looking at buying one a year or so ago I sent them a request for a test ride. No problem they said. We'll come back to you with available dates they said. And despite several chasing emails from me I'm still waiting.
Just took delivery of my Norton 961 SF Nothing like the comfort of my Multi your right, but a great fun bike for a sunny Sunday blast! Just going to have to wait until next year now to enjoy!!
