Hawk Carbon Cans Any Good?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by general_piffle, Nov 26, 2014.

  1. I'm looking to replace the stock cans on my '99 900SS I've heard carbon gives a deeper tone than stainless or ally and wondered what the Hawk end-cans were like?

I can't find any other end-cans still being made (at a reasonable price) for the injector 900SS. Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm happy with road legal just want something to free things up a bit and release some Ducati rumble. Thanks.

  2. Dont know about the Hawk ones mate but i had microns on my 97 900ss (carby) and they were sweet. bought them 9 odd years ago so as to there availability/suitability i dont know but perhaps a brand worth checking out.

  3. I got some GPR cans out of Italy for my 01 SSIE for a good price of e pay

  6. Thanks handensco, what do the GPR cans sound like? They look pretty well made :)

  7. What is your price limit?

  8. I have some Ducati Performance carbon ones if you are interested in crossing my palm with filthy lucre? Pic here 1100 Evo Supersport | Ducati Forum

They look better than the Hawk ones and being faithful to the marque is better, surely?

  9. About £500 tops.

  10. They do look nice but ideally I'd like new, so I get the lifetime warranty most come with. Am thinking GPR now to keep it Italian :)

  11. Ok well 300 takes them if you change your mind. Not advertising, as I am a couple of months away from getting the system I want on mine....then to the bay

  12. There is a guy in England that posted up a video of the GPR's on youtube. I believe he has it with the baffles in and out. It is a red supersport. The sound was nice so that is what I ordered. I went with the high mounts and they send you parts to keep the passenger pegs. My 01ie is torn down right now so no pics. I am working on my mk1 super light first. I have 6 bikes so there is always something on a lift with 2or 3 running and 2 or 3 in line for something. The youtube video is good.

  13. I've got ie cans and link pipes on my 91 ss if that helps widen your search net, they are scorpions, but are stainless though.

  14. I bought 2 Carbon sleeves to convert the standard ones..

  15. Weight saving? I know you weighed it pre and post carbon.

  16. Don't know yet as (a) didn't weight the standard ones, and (b) the carbon ones aren't complete yet - there is a steel strap that will add weight..
I'll let you know when they are ready to go on though :)
