So, that's that then (thank god) Now all we can hope for is Cal to be signed rather than Dovi, I suspect Cal will adapt better than dovi so fingers crossed.
What a sad end to 'the dream'. Still, defo the right move for Vale. Ducati have a mountain to climb. I hope Cal doesn't go there as I fear it won't help his career.
Its ended the careers of every rider. THe only year they won with stoner was just the right tyres, right rider, right engine at the right time. And ever since then, they've failed to adapt to the new tyres etc yada yada. sad end to the relationship. Ducati needs to think long and hard about the direction they take. If its going to continue down the road of here's the bike, its not going to change much for the rest of the year because we are the best, its only going to kill the career of whoever takes that seat. I really rate melandri but look what happened to him not mentioning all the others.
He had a point to prove at Ducati, but that didnt work out. I think he's now lost his mojo since Sepang last year.
Does make you wonder if the organisers also had a hand in things, 'cos with Casey retiring, and Pedrosa still only blowing hot and cold, next season wasn't looking like much of a spectacle with no one to touch "George", this season has hardly been electric, whereas WSBK has been much more interesting. They had to get someone onto a bike that could maybe get into the mix or risk losing their audience.
Two competative manufacturers doesn't make it any more exciting! OK thats how it is now but Rossi added that hope of a third manufacturer having a chance. It's a shame he couldn't make it work. I wonder how long before we see the carbon airbox come back?
I think the only thing Rossi ever lost was faith in Ducati and who can blame him. Rossi is so huge because he is a tryer and a hard charger and is exciting to watch on a competative bike. I am passionate about my Ducati's but I still would love to see Rossi fighting at the sharp end once more even if it is on a Yamaha. The moto gp championship needs some excitment, I don't think many people get excited watching gorgeous geoge or super dull Stoner. Lately even Danny has been looking exciting compared to them two. Chris.
Before he joined Rossi added that potential third manufacturer scenario, but it soon became apparent that it wasn't going to happen, unless of course it was pissing down with rain. If Rossi stayed with Ducati next season I dont see much changing (new rider will hopefully bring new approach), Stoner off, it would be a case of will Lorenzo crash, blow up or stop at the side of the track for a fag break, and at (at Silverstone) £100 a ticket, people want more than that.
Get rid of the single tyre rule, encourage Suzuki, Kawaski, Aprillia etc, etc to come back and make it a proper race series again, bin the electronics, real riders on real bikes hungry for the top of the podium... Hang on isn't that superbikes?
No I don't either, but the electronics cost money so we could end up with the richest team wins and that isnt exactly going to encourage teams to come back. Plus I'd prefer to see the best rider on the best bike win, not the rider with the best computer programer. Think someone mentioned F1 somewhere? lets steer clear of that!
I agree, too much electronics takes the real skill away from the rider, and the single tyre rule seems to favour the Japanese teams, healthy competition is the way to go. Cut down on the very expensive electronics to allow money to be spent elsewhere, and give the teams more time for testing.
my prayers have been answered. no more yellow tat on Ducati red it would be interesting to see what CS could do with the bike at the Valencia test after the last race
Don't think that will happen, CS knows he got away at the right time, just a shame it didn't work out. Never mind there will be a new face to cheer on next season, and who knows, it might be someone who can get the brand back to the top.
Great news. More Rossi on next year's Ducati = more of the same. Not good for Ducati or Rossi. Re electronics, I think its farcical to have an electronic system altering the bike for you on different bits of the track. That is not real life, so it doesn't have any uses that could trickle down to us, the consumers. It's one step away from Scalextrics bikes. It's bound to be pricey, tricky to set up and the exact reverse of what the series needs. One guy's skill on the best bike at the track, not several people's skill on different bikes at different bits of track.
So pleased Valentino Rossi is going back to Yamaha, at least he stands a chance of winning now. Even though I ride a Ducati I have to admit his race bike was a dog that only Stoner could make bark.
Can't help think that Stoner may make a return just to prove the Ducati can do the job. Even if that is a guest ride.
