Hi Folks, saying hello and warning you to get ready for a load of basic questions, misguided assumptions, bad attempts at humour and more even more basic questions. I'm a self confessed spontaneous buyer and having sold my ZX7R and SRAD trackbike, I purchased a GSXR 750 trackbike and probably the best Bike I've ever owned........................this 748S. I have done more or less zero research on it, haven't a clue how they go together and am bracing myself for mega bucks servicing bills. Being delivered on Saturday, it's not concourse standard but it's in the best condition I can expect of a '99 bike, really lovely. Great (and recent) service history, new chain and sprockets and brand new tyres and a few extra bits and bobs to go on it. Haven't ridden it, roll on Saturday................................whoohooooo!!!
Hello n welcome.... You'll fit in well here with the rest of us then! Don't worry when you ride it, it's not broken....it's just not a JIL4, it's a completely different animal that I'm sure you'll grow to love.

Cheers Folks, looking forward to getting her tomorrow. First thing to tackle is that sidestand, which seems by design to flick up automatically. Fine when you moving off, but when you come to a stop and want to put the sidestand down, it seems a bit tricky?
Oh yes.....that was the bain of many Duc owners. Watching your bike fall over cos the side stand isnt down has got to be a reet pisser
My SS was the same. I just learnt to get off holding bike with my left knee and thigh then putting stand down once I had changed legs. Probably better to show you. I could never put it down sitting and using my heel it would keep flicking back up
Fixed for ~ £5 with a later bracket from your local Ducati dealer. Unless you like it like that of course!
Really looks very cool and beautiful, the side stand upgrade will be money well spent in my opinion. Welcome, new here myself but love it already, they're a great gang on here. Chris.

I bought pixie the curved bracket for the side stand matey , as she's ..... Err .... Tiny ... If you look behind the stand the bracket clipped to the spring it's straight so it pushes against the nut behind forcing it back and it flips up .... Kin pain in the ass even if your tall .... You'll love the 7 no need to cane it ride the torque , watch out for the engine breaking , it'll feel like your gonna smack the top yoke with your face, and the grinding as you pull away is normal !!!! Dry clutch .... Biting point , look up , roll throttle more more more ...... More ....... Release biting point ..... Shake head as bike shakes too ....... More throttle. !!!!! Grin !!!!!! Everyone is lookin at you " ooh I've always liked those" ......
Well just a moment to post a quick update. I only manged about 40 miles this afternoon, and those miles were on brand new tyres (hence I was riding like a tart) so I can hardly say I got a good sense of what the bike is like, but I tell you this.................I loved it. Couple of moments... the first after about 5 miles when I missed a gear while trying to change from 2nd to 3rd going round a slight bend. Bike was still in 2nd when I let the clutch out......oooohhhh....V Twin engine breaking ......a rear wheel wiggle and some heavy cursing. The second while cruising down a fast A road, glance at the temp gauge, 150 degrees (wtf????), crap it's overheating, glance back, yep 150 degrees (ahh no I've bought a duff bike), look back again....HA HAHAHAH Good old Italians using Fahrenheit on the temp gauges. I thought it was surprisingly revvy, get to 7k rpm and it's almost like a power band. I love the power delivery, steering seems sharp, front brake awesome (it has an upgraded master cylinder apparently) rear brake is errrr well??? I don't think I'll bother much with it Gearbox was lovely, engine noise and exhaust was awesome..note to self...use earplugs tomorrow. I've bought 5 bikes in 2 and a half years for track and road, I've loved them all but this is the one....I just feel it in me bones Yeeee haaaaahh!!
