I am considering buying a used (or new) Hypermotard sp there are some nice ex-demos around for a good price, but I cannot decide if it's a good idea. most of them will have around 700/800 miles to them, and not always have optionals. you get a good discount, typically around £1500 off or even more...and they will have at least 1 year left of warranty what do you guys think?
I have done, my Speed Triple R was an ex demo. Nothing wrong with an ex demo bike, especially at the right price.
thanks. how would you know if it has any issues due to the inevitable thrashing it has gone thru? I guess the avg joe trying a Hyper wouldn't exactly go easy...
at least 20 % off list price , remainder of warranty, full service before purchase and another 12 months later thrown in
yes this sounds in line with what I am seeing... with the exception of the extra 12 months... I guess I would be happy to just have a full 2 years like when new
Unless it's been used for a stunt expo or been used to practice burnouts there's little chance it's been thrashed.
if a bike has been thrashed from the off but made it through the running in period without letting go surely its a good un?
Last 3 bikes ( Ducati's ) I have bought have been Demo's. My Monster EVO was 3 months old done 300 miles and was £2200 less than list. Was offered a Monster 1200S the other day for £10500 on a 64 plate with 200 miles. They're £13500 next year. It's a complete no brainer - just watch the ones that are 6 months old with 3000 miles on the clock....
As all above. I wouldn't worry about a bit of caning as long as its received 1st service which it will have. I'd buy one no probs if the price was right.
Nothing wrong with thrashed. Engine will be better, bike more reliable, will give more power and less hassle I only tried one once...
Its all about price and condition. It will be fully serviced when you get it so mechanically it would be fine. Dealers like selling on their ex demos, especially if they're not branded with the dealers details like those from On Yer Bike
some demo bikes will have close to 1 year, and after only another year they will be due the full service that includes cam-belt change, which is bloody expensive...
