Bradders to be honest I have been quite surprised at how cheap some stuff is for the Ducati, my seat cowl was £110 (official Ducati part) my mate tried buying one for his ZX10 original article came in at £250. So who says Duc parts are more expensive than Jap bits.
Bargain of the entury vinjy ispanigale track bodywork, official, from Ducati Alas a K5 draws the same premiums as a ducati. Where a k4 frame, for example. Goes for 3-400, the same peolpe want 1200 for a k5 frame. And wheels...feck they ask 200 for a front when you can get a new lne for 250!
See!!!!! the Ducati is the way forward But yeah it's getting mental the prices they ask for parts on all bikes these days
Can't see her indoors ever asking for a matt finished diamond ring with matching matt gold bracelet, nope, for me gloss is quintessential carbon fibre. It does not make sense, buy a nice new car and proceed to polish it every week with 1200 grade wet and dry until the desired finish is achieved.:Facepalm: :Wtf::Wtf: :Banghead::Banghead:
As most have already stated it is all down to personal taste. The few pieces of carbon I did order in matte are to be painted but look too raw to be called what I would term "finished" Gloss does definitely bring out the best in the weave pattern and if clear coated properly a depth to the part. Just my halfpenny's worth. Clear coating the front mudguard was one of the first jobs carried out on my project and it look immeasurably better. Only downside is you have to be that much more careful fitting parts to avoid damaging the finish, particularly the trickier ones.
That's why you going and buy a Matt black Ferrari saves on elbow grease and wet n dry. I like shiny things too but my bike is matt black and shiny carbon does not suit it and NO it does not add contrast
Going gloss. I got a satin cable cover delivered and it does look like it need finishing off, you cannot see the carbon weave as much as the gloss finish. Giving it to the guy next door who is a painter and he is going to clear coat it for me.
I need to decide before I start ordering parts, they do both so I have time to change my mind. Just looked at the gloss again though and it looks more like I have spent some money changing something.
Ian, I was always dead set on gloss right up until I saw a friends 1198 with a gloss hugger and a few other gloss bits, it put me right off, I thought it looked cheap. From then on I've been dead set on satin for the Pani. It goes with the front mudguard anyway. So... if I seal a deal this week and get some money in my Christmas present is going to be some carbon. A hugger, small exhaust shield, and a key guard. Can't wait.
The cover I have is about 2" longer and covers up more of the cables and covers the fluid reservoir. The original cover was awkward to get off, mind you it will be easier when I figure out how to remove the upper side fairing. I think it's a plastic plug under the headlight stopping it coming off.
