Bike mag and MCN - Rubbish, may as well quote a tabloid. While mentioning MCN, if you ask most owners of a motorcycle dealership they will tell you MCN often comes out with such rubbish (simply to sell papers) but cause more harm to the motorcycle industry (unless you are selling a British bike). Then of course I may well be as guilty of believing rubbish after all we are fed so much crap these days who knows what to believe?
Quote me Tony, like I said having a drink and meal (2 hours) with Alan it's amazing what information was shared, Stoner barely touches TC brilliant bike control but cannot setup a bike, I'd go as far as to say Stoner jumped on the GP07 when the bike/tyre combo was perfect he had zero input that year as the bike was built ready to go and he won at the first race. After 2007 it started to go downhill probably because he couldn't provide feedback. Its all in the past, the bikes, tyres, electronics and riders have moved on, I firmly believe next year it will be a two horse race between Lorenzo and Rossi, Dani may get the odd look in but that's your lot.
That seems a fair guess to me. Dani will get his customary 2 wins per year, but the action up front will at least involve two men rather than just Jorge on his own, which is how it would've been if Rossi decided to stay at Ducati. And any talk about Stoner is irrelevant cos he's baled out, unable to make the honda work...
And any talk about Stoner is irrelevant cos he's baled out, unable to make the honda work...[/QUOTE] ? Laguna ? not a bad way of notbeing able to make it work.
Was told by someone involved in the spar frame design that Ducati have tried 26 different versions to date.
Apart from 2 minor points 1) Capirossi could not ride the D16 in 07 and has described Stoners riding style as "impossible" and 2) Stoner had no choice on the carbon frame. That came frome the marketing department and the 1199 concept which as we now know started design in 2006. Stoner, Bayliss, Rossi, all had the same problem with the engineers. People can say it went downhill in 08 because Stoner could not give feedback, but what then of the Doctor and the past two years? If your bike is not suited to it you are fecked, and in 08 Bridgstone may not have been a control tyre but Rossi moving to it that year would have changed their approach. Win on Sunday sell on Monday. Now who winning on Sunday will sell more tyres?
I would suggest Alan Jenkins ought to have a word with himself. He's now had Rossi and Stoner (the two quickest riders of the last 10 years) on his carbon-frame design and neither of them got it to work anywhere near as well as the standard that is required to win Championships. Stoner left because he felt no one listened to his complaints and thoughts and it's now fair to say Rossi has left for the same reasons. Audi need to come in with a big brush and sweep away all the 'experts' running the Motogp design department and start afresh or pack it in altogether.
Duke62, what does your source mean by "tried 26 frames" ? Because they have not tried that many at the race meetings. That would be a different frame at every race ! CAD modelled 26 perhaps and then run them through a finite element analysis program. How many have Honda tried in the same way? I'll repeat, "Either this is because those people are not as clever as they need to be ( very unlikely) or a parameter outside of their control is the deciding factor. My guess is Tyres and or restrictions on the testing allowed to increment their way to success"
According to alex briggs... who has no reason to bullshit! This year is the same frame they started with (Alloy) they have different stiffness frames which they can change at testing just like honda and yamaha. He calls the 6 engine rule dumb as this restricts how many frames can be tried and tested with the engine in different positions. As he worked for both Honda and Yamaha i think he knows a thing or two!
Baled out, yes. Unable to make the honda work? View attachment 4983 He doesn't seem to have done a bad job to me with only one win less than gorgeous George
The post of mine you at referring to has nothing to do with CS set up skills. I am suggesting that the GP07 wasn't perfect, ie Capirossi went from being a championship contender in 06 to running mid pack 07. A bit like VR really since joining Ducati. Anyone noticing a familiar pattern? Capirossi VR Melandri Hayden and on and on
Jorge will have him as tapas... Rossi has been the worst rider to Ducati in all the years they were running Motogp.. he pushed them in a direction that is so not Ducati - alike asking ferarri to run the Lemans on diesel.. - and now leaves them with his development 'effort' in a shambles... sorry mate, wrecked your effort but now i'm gone. Tx for the millions... i'll say it again: time to drop the Motogp and focus on WSBK... or they will get a whooping from Kawa, aprilia, Honda and BMW next year.. now that would hurt! Koen
