How Many Sport Classics Are Being Ruined By This Bloke?

  1. I realise it's all a question of taste ... but

I had an SC some years ago that this garage in Yorkshire ( it's called a "speed shop" ) bought from the then owner.

They then splattered it with stripes and "59" decals and inappropriate Ducati decals (1980's typeface as opposed to 70's) .... makes me sound like a pedant but in my mind they ruined my old bike (it was an '06 yellow mono) .

Now I find they are doing it all the time - buying up (mainly yellow) SC's and vandalising them.

I can't believe they are adding value - but they seem to think they are.... grrrr

  2. Personally I think it looks great

However price tag is way too high and you could build yourself something a lot nicer for a lot less money

  3. Inflating an already inflated price for those bikes.

  4. Well it is a dealer...(regards price) and I haven't seen any private ones advertised for less than £7.5k.... If you know of any decent SC's going for less than £7k please pm me asap!

  5. Wondering what an "ultamate" edition is?

  6. I like it, and I think the price is the going rate.

  8. you could use an SS as a donor bike, fit alloy tank and lots of trick parts and have a lot of ££££ to spare

  14. They may be butt ugly but they're one of very few Ducati's that have gone up in value for the last 20 years...

  15. Because they are exclusive, read didnt sell at all when new because they were butt ugly, rode terribly and were like being put on a rack after 5 min ride

  16. You forgot to add that they were parts bin specials to use up old stock, however I think they looked okay. Bit chubby but looked okay. Wouldve preferred them to be thinner and sleaker like the old 750ss/900ss etc. Overpriced but what Ducati isnt?

  17. You're probably right bradders but I'd be a happy chap if I'd bought one for £3500 ( which I did ) and now worth £7500, butt ugly or not.

  18. I sold my Classic S because I found it so painful to ride.Perhaps if I had been a different size or 40years younger I might have kept it.I did however like the look and sound of it.
At the time when I decided to sell it-I had ridden it back to back with my MH to compare the rides. The MH,suprisingly, was more comfortable and exiting to ride.In hindsight I should have kept the classic and tucked it away.Life is full of hindsights isn't it?

  19. They're only stickers, you can peel them off if you don't like them.

As for being an uncomfortable bike, stick some higher clip ons on and it's fine

  20. Not possible to use higher clip ons with the S.They foul on the fairing. That would only sort out one of the problems with the ergonomics of the bike anyway.
However,I am sure there are many happy owners out there. The guy I sold mine to was delighted,he was taking it back to Australia with him.
