Advice On Pirelli Superbike Sc Slicks

  1. Would they last 3 days on a spanish track at inters pace?
27 rear 30 front hot a good starting point?
and are they good to go from the off or need couple laps to scrub in?

    any info appreciated:upyeah:

  2. Think I was told 1.7bar rear is that 24??

  3. yea.24
Wow, wudda thought that was on the low side ,but good to know..
How many days ya reckon you get out of them?
And jaziz dont say one lol

  4. May need a second rear? Depends on your pace and how hard on tyres you are. Nate of mind is similar pace to me (bit slower ;) ) and makes his tyres last twice as long as I can

  5. Btw that is the BSB Pirelli slicks, the trackday/novice racer ones (can't remember the name) I think we're 27 rear and should do 3 days

  6. cool:upyeah: scrubs will be available there just in case.

    think they are the pros

  7. Think they may be the trackday orientated ones. I did a day and a half at cartagena and mate had them off me and raced for half a season on them.

  8. I believe they wear really well and last a lot longer alright.
Seems to be mixed reviews on tinternet re: spinning up.
Might be worth a try for next set considering the value. Not out to break records and money I,m spending on tyres is mental.

  9. If they are superbike Pro's - 32-36psi in the front & 25-28psi in the rear....hot.

I usually run Pirelli SC's (0-2) and wear rate at Almeria is pretty high, 3 to 4 rears and a couple of fronts. Almeria is hard on tyres.
I am heading over in January with a set of Superbike Pro's fitted, so will see how it goes. The Superbike Pro's have already done a 2hr open session and they look like brand new however the grip is not quite the same as the SC's. I experienced a few step outs but nothing untoward and lap times were the same as with the SC's.

I'll know more about wear rate on these tyres at the end of January. I'm also taking 2 sets of Dunlop Slicks over as everyone I have spoken to have said that the Dunlops are much, much better....we will see.

  10. No, they are sc slicks.
Will most likely give the pros a shot next time, interested to hear your feedback on
    them after your trip.:upyeah:

  11. +1 on Pros vs Supersocrsa. I found quite a lot more grip on the SC than the slicks, with slicks feeling like they were sliding where SC just gripped and left black lines

from memory, I was running 26-31 but I do tend to run one or two PSI lower than most

  12. Just to clear up, it is only slicks I run.
    Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks....compound SC0 SC1 SC2
The ones I'm trying are Pirelli Diablo Superbike Pro slicks.....these are a harder compound and are supposed to last longer.

If you are running the SC0, 1 or 2 compounds they will not last as long as the Superbike Pro's but will offer more grip.
Tyre pressures for the SC compounds are Front 32 to 36 and rear 25 to 28 hot which is the same as the Pro's.

    Cheers

  13. Davy thanks.
Yea using Diablo Superbike Slicks SC1 front and Sc2 rear.
Just trying to guage wear rate at inter pace?
    2 days?
    3? etc
Might try the pros on next set for better wear, most likely at the pace I run wont see a noticeable difference. Shy,d away this time for trying them as there seems to be mixed opinions on tyres spinning up.
Interested to hear your opinion on the Pros when you return.

I'd guess maybe 2 rears max for 3 days you might get away with the 1. Front you will be fine without changing. But impossible to say for sure.
Regarding pace and wear rate in inter pace I'm positive the Pro's would be fine, I run around top 10 in advanced (in Europe) and I'm hoping they will be fine for me but not convinced, time will tell.
Regarding spinning up....they all do. It's how they deal with it that matters. SC's are controlled and predictable and I'm hoping the Pro's are the same.

  15. What Davy said, theyll last and youll be fine in inters, they domt need as much a pace to keep the heat in them and wear really well

At davy, my experience, mid-front fast group (small bike racer) the Pros were not good enough and grip went off pretty quick on the rear, it slid a fair amount and felt really unsettled regardless of pressures I used

  16. @bradders
Thanks for that, it's kinda what I was thinking but was hoping for something different :).

    Cheers

  17. Just as a matter of interest , could you run a diablo superbike slick sc1 front and supercorsa sc1 (thread) on the rear?

Reason I ask is Pirelli dont make a diablo superbike slick sc1 for a 190/55 and would like to try a sc1 for comparison just for a day.

  18. You can do anything you want but personally I wouldn't mix tread and slick.

  19. Yea you are right , was a daft notion lol

  20. Loads do, eg wet front and sc type rear for damp tracks. As the unfortunate victim of mixing brands and quality on a dry day...I wouldnt put a super sicky rear with lesser front tho.
