Just to clarify I didn't pay for them or for fitting just £200 for the service. If they weren't free I couldn't justify that kind of money for some cans.
Sorry to disagree with you on the point of chugging through traffic, I actually found my 899 was a god send in traffic 20mph 1st, 2nd or 3rd no feathering the clutch needed, it would trickle along quite happily and when the throttle was squeezed it would just pick up and go, quite different from previous Ducati sports bikes which would give nothing then all of a sudden snatch your arms out of your sockets, also previous models doing the same 20mph in traffic would sound to high revving in 1st and then cough its guts up in 2nd. One good mod is a smaller front sprocket 1 tooth less will do nicely and its a cheap mod, sprocket is around £16
I had the same with my 899 free termi's and was not charged for fitting just the couple of hundred quid for service
The termis seems to have sorted the low speed filtering chugging along. Smooth and lovely now just as smooth as the triple. Better everywhere else
Still do the front sprocket mod though, I found that added more grunt, had an 848 Evo Wheelie 1st 2nd and 3rd, the 899 with just cans struggled to come up in 2nd till I changed sprocket. Oh one other thing to note, each mode is totally reprogramable, You can go into each one and change the characteristics of the EBC, ABS and TC.
RPM Setting is on page 114 of your manual, it is so you can change at what revs it idles not turn display on and off my bad sorry
Was that £200 for the run in service? If so I would be asking about that as mine was about £60, I just had to pay for the oil etc not the labour.
Yeah it was, I think this was discussed on a thread I posted not long after I got my 899 last year. Bungle it would appear that the dealer you got your bike from were nice enough to only charge you for the items on your first service and no labour charge, this was at the discretion of your dealer and not something that was endorsed by Ducati. When I bought mine I had a few bits thrown on before they released the bike, tail tidy, oberon foot pegs, radiator guards, venture shield and seat cowl. All items were charged for at trade price and no labour for fitting so that was my freebie. To be fair to the dealership I use, I tend to get parts at 10% discount where they can and some of the smaller fitting jobs I do not always get charged labour for or it is done at a reduced costs. So it is all down to how well you get on with the dealership you buy your bike from.
I paid £1000 for my termis , brand new from a ducati dealer , and it took me , in my garage lying on the floor 2,5 hrs to fit so don't know how they get away with the labour charges quoted and selling full rrp,
Jimmy not sure where in the world you are but here in Gods part of the world (Sunny South East of England) labour at my dealership is £66 an hour
im in Newcastle , my dealers 66 inc vat, but at the moment half price labour , my dealer wanted 4hrs labour to fit them at 66 that's why I fitted them myself ,in much less time there not that hard to fit, if you let a ducati salesman take the micky he will.
Mine was from Ducati Glasgow, I did ask at the time before I purchased about the service. Sounds like you are getting a fair deal in other ways from the dealer you are using too so not so bad then.
