I have seen the stock cans sell new in box for £50. Riders are not lying by saying it is a 999R can, it is a standard can for base , S and R as said above - they are all the same - I do think however they are pulling the wool over peoples eyes and trying to make a killing on stock that's worth sod all, if so it's a bit disgusting really! You can buy these new, never fitted as many had termi's fitted from new and they are never more than £100 as no one want's them.
Ducati 999R Take a look at the above, it looks as though Termi's may have come later Have emailed Riders, asking them to clarify
Very naughty, if that's right. Riders list the can they are selling as 102 db and the article says the race kit can is 102 db - confusing...
I'm pretty sure Elise is correct ( ) in that the 999R was originally supplied with two exhaust systems. In the article quoted by Old Rider, I read the "supplied with a racing kit" to mean that it is supplied with a "standard" exhaust system as well as the "racing" version. This interpretations matches my memory of those heady days when the 999 first came out. As always, I could be wrong.
Yes, that was my interpretation too but they say the kit can is 102 db and Riders say their can is 102 db...
Sorry, I wasn't commenting on your previous post but providing some much needed back-up for what Elise was saying. He needs all the support he can get, you know. He's troubled, you see.
Ducati 749/999 Exhaust systems Looks here as though the Termignoni kits are listed as 102db, so Riders could be telling porkies about their can being a 102db one.
Troubled with 2 999R's both of which have the 2 exhausts supplied with them originally, and 2 ecu's, stands, plaques and covers
Never looked in them, they are boxed from new, but I understand they are not straight through. The one on the link is 100% standard Ducati base, s and r 999 and worth next to sod all...
It was not straight through as standard . It was exactly the same as a base or an S . If you think about it it had to pass the same laws then and it had to hit the same decibel range to be allowed to be sold in the u.k. which is , i believe , 82 Db . That is why the 999R came with a standard fitted exhaust and an exhaust that was in a box that included a straight through front pipe and a straight through silencer . Both pipe and silencer had no cats. The fitted exhaust had cats fitted by law.
Looks like Riders are being very naughty then, selling it as a 102 db version. Has to contravene the Sale of Goods Act
thanks for your input guys, cant say I have followed all of it completely and maybe I shouldnt of hijacked this post the fact of the matter is I have in my possesion 2 silencers to all intents and purposes exactly the same apart from one is considerably lighter than the other and stamped for race use only neither of these were ever described as termis
I have had two 999r's and the standard can is a normal welded construction with differing length inputs with a Cat inside. The race can did differ if I remember rightly from the 2003 to the 2004 model year as the later bikes had a riveted base that you could also use the Ducati performance kit to convert it it a 57 mm big system. All the race cans were marked as 102db as I recall.
No hijack! We still haven't established exactly what your can is exactly and mine seems pretty similar if not identical. If mine has been cored, it's one hell of a neat job and it would make sense if it came from a factory like that. Clearly it's not a Termignoni though.
They all had riveted bases from 2003 onwards (the Termi cans I mean supplied with the bike) I will load some pictures of mine soon showing the Termi supplied and the other with the full 57mm system fitted... giz a moment
