Booked in my van(vw transporter) for its yearly service and mot with the main dealer, when i phoned to book it in i was told it was due a interval service, whats included in that one i ask,oil change, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter etc and it will be £288 inc vat.So i book it in and drop it off this morning and two hours later get the normal brake discs are worn and pads are low phone call,i refuse there offer to change them.At 2pm i get a text to say my van is ready for collection, pay the bill and drive home,as i get out of the van i look on the cab floor and notice it has not been valeted,i also notice the lack of pollen filter debris that always falls out when its changed,so being a bit suspicious i check the pollen filter, yep filthy full of debris,so now i check the air filter that has been changed, but it now makes me wonder if the fuel filter has been changed as i obviously cannot check it out.So i now look at my invoice and the pollen filter has been invoiced £19.91 and also 14.5 litres of oil ? @£11.59 a litre.I now go to phone the dealer but they are closed aahhh.I have a few days to think about things before i get in touch with them. What do you think would be a fair conclusion to this episode.
start with emailing the customer service dept today and cc in their general manager and your solicitor
How far is the dealer from you? If not too far, I'd go back in a couple of days when next open. Show the the evidence and ask them what they are going to do about it. They should at least rebook the van in to get it all sorted and any over payment should be refunded. At least they should send a taxi to wherever you are to pick you up, after the van is finished and I'd also expect a full valet for my hassle.
big deep breaths and push for a refund. the fuel filter will be easy to check its under the air box on the right hand side of the air box, will be nice and shinny. my bets, it will be done. full bhunna on 3hs plus parts. if breaks have been checked properly.
Just checked fuel filter has been changed, its the 2.0l engine so its by the battery ?,14.5 litres of oil i would have thought 5 to 7 lts max, when these dealers have a job sheet i assume they go to stores and get all the parts if so where is the pollen filter ?.So if i ask for the pollen filter and oil filter to be changed and a full refund i am not being unreasonable ?
nope, do it in a calm manner, you will get your refund. and a little reminder next time you take it back will do no harm.
sounds like they are ripping you off, my transporter 1.9td engine was 5 ltrs with a oil filter change, where the hell they getting 14.5 ltrs from and not changing a filter they quoted you for, and maybe other bits, ask for a full refund, i would call it theft , personally i like to use local garages that i can trust, and avoid main dealer rip off prices, just my opinion, kev
could it be a typo error, 4,5l @ do it a lot always notice tho. as for the pollen filter lazy mech that the service dept wouldn't know any better.
Looks like its been added twoce then. Shouod be simple enoygh for a refund. Its the fitting old parts that would have me down there calmly raging...
My van is my works van and i usually change every 3 years but i am holding out for the t6 to come out and only useing main dealer so i can sell with fvagsh and tbh i can claim vat back and with there fixed price servicing they are usually quite competitive and no problems until now.
yep my own works van too, if im honesty £48 is vat, as im vat registered i dont count vat as we off set it, cant make head nor tail of that bill, fuel filter£58 quid, is that right? ( seems expensive) thought the bill was reasonable at £240 plus vat for a main dealer, except they dont seem to have done what they said they did, I.E. pollen filter, which they have charged you for and have they missed, anything else?, worth checking what finM has said in fuel filter, kev
Totally agree re the filter, its just not on being charged for something that has not been done and in my eyes is theft,i dont beleive it was over looked i think they just could not be arsed,a tech knows what is required in a major service, the only thing i can think of is the pollen filter missing off the job sheet.I was just after some feed back to what other people think i should do,as i just want a fair out come.
Dealer retail on the fuel filter sounds correct , obviously something wrong with the oil pricing , £288 for that work from a dealer sounds reasonable to me . I see it as the dealer owes you a refund on the oil , they owe you a pollen filter or refund on the cost of it and some sort of good will ..... Free valet , lick ya arse sir and so on
Weren't you quoted 288 pounds? That appears to be what you were charged isn't it? So where's the problem?, excepting the pollen filter that is, go back an see them, probably very busy at this time of year, stressed technician?, forgot?, they'll probably apologise and fit it and offer some form of recompense. People are not infallible, so don't work yourself into a frenzy, give them the chance to rectify, then judge their response.
Fuel filter sounds expensive.Polen filter not changed and oil overcharged.Tut tut!Not just one oversight is it?A nice calm phone call in a couple of days is on the cards.
