  1. so you have access to a laser and pressbrake then?

  2. No. Why do I need one? :upyeah:

  3. Hiya

    Yes indeed!

Ducati 600SS 600 SS M600 M750 750SS Monster crankcase case saver stainless race | eBay

The 600/750 crankcases are a VERY snug fit around the chain but still offer many snag-points for the chain to get caught up and break into the cases? The 600/750 saver is an exercise in metalwork itself, they quite literally *click* into place. :upyeah:

PM me for private sale details?

  4. Just interested to know under what circumstances the chain would do this??

After seeing the pic above I'm thinking of selling the Multi and buying a scooter - 'smiley face with stick of blackpool rock protruding from ear'

  5. Hiya

Ummmm weak/worn chain, weak/badly fitted softlink, too many clutch-dump wheelies, stress's & strains from trackdays/racing, many reasons!

An inline four will gradually gain power, small piston thuds compared to that of a Big Twin, which will pull that chain like a piece of string from very little rev's at all! BIG fat wads of torque BANGBANGBANGBANG of COURSE that chain gets a ridiculously hard life...

I have in my possession an early saver, returned to me when the owner bought a new one after his chain fell off after a gearbox problem on a trackday?

The chain fell off the back sprocket & stayed intact, all the time still whizzing round trying to get thrown and wedged off the front sprocket, where it would have *CRUNCHED* its way through the cases, under which circumstances they would have had the strength of a digestive biscuit?

I will get photos of said saver up ASAP, my phone is on charge at the mo... I asked the owner, an esteemed friend and colleague on this forum, if he could forward me some photo's of the saver for my own development & research means, he offered to post the old one back when he received the new one! RESULT. Naturally I refunded him for his time & postage costs? The first saver was a mk.3, 1.5mm stainless and did its job very well! The new mk.4's are 2mm thick and even more BOMBPROOF. :upyeah:

Cheap insurance at the end of your day? You do not have to crash or even drop the bike to write off your engine?

Ducati made a case-saver themselves, but stopped production in 2005, presumably as a cost-cutting exercise? They were by all account mild steel, tended to rust well & didnt have the depth and top & bottom guide plates that mine do?

    Evolution of the species... :upyeah:
