How old are you, and how long have you been riding?

  1. Oh yes. I wish I had a photo of her with all the mods I did - maybe my folks do in their photo archive (aka a bunch of cardboard boxes).

Micron expansion chamber and re-jetted carb, drop handlebars, bikini fairing.

Bell Star 2 lid, DMs, jeans and black lancer-style leather jacket ordered out of the back of Sounds - takes me back to my yoof

  2. 307 ..
Had licence for 20 years now.
Age 14 was pillion with London dispatch riders.

Lost my bottle after an off and ugly circumstances. Ex fella not a biker , hated me having one.

Trying to get nerves back desperately
    As my ridings gone jittery.
Had some extra tuition before I jumped back on bigger bike.

Has anyone had a break in riding or worse like I did an enforced one!

  3. 36 and 19

Re: Andy's question I've done very little on road training but I temper that by the large amount of on track training I've done as both a student and a riding coach.

I've also had a few breaks in regular riding, like right now, but always got back into it pretty quickly. It's just like riding a bike... :upyeah:

  4. 35 and riding on the road since 16 but I stopped at 19 and did not get another bike until I was 28.

  5. 52 and 34 and i thought i was the old git , its like a Saga holiday on here

  6. Hope I look as bright when I'm 307

Had an enforced break when I was 21 after a SMIDSY left me with a weakened knee joint for a few months ........ rode like a nervous meercat for about a year after getting back on a bike - expecting every car to jump out and knock me off (remember Monty Pythons 'Killer Cars'?), but that extra caution riding in town traffic has probably saved me on hundreds of occasions in the years since when cars have done exactly the same thing .... see the caution (nerves!) as a positive thing!

  7. D'yer think we could get Saga to run cheap trackdays?

  8. I think its case that you get to a certain age and when the kids etc have buggered off that you can afford a premium brand like a Ducati. Its the same in the car world isnt it. You don't see many 20 somethings driving around in flash cars do you.

  9. Well, there was a bit of price difference, in that you could have an old banger car and a flash bike all for the same money as bog standard family saloon, or less. Now in the era of the highly sophisticated 20 grand bike, it is probably putting them out of the reach of the young.

But you still need plenty sponds for a flash motor, and a very flash motor will only ever be a dream for most.

  10. I'm 33 and have been riding since I was 19 (14 years). Seems I'm still a whippersnapper!

  11. Yes. Yes you are. Now go and fetch the tea!

I'd order Ducbird to do it but she's getting past the age when I can get away with that. :upyeah:

    *runs far, far away*

  12. And polish my boots while you're about it, my boy, or it will be a slow roasting over the fire for you.

  13. It's an Old Git Rebellion! Be afraid!

  14. If you ask nicely :)

  15. Yes, maybe Nicely will do that for me

  16. 44 and have been officially been riding since 17 though actually started about 8 years old on a trials bike. First road bike was a GS125.
