996 Gearbox Mainshaft Bearing.

  1. Does anybody have the generic bearing number for the alternator side Mainshaft bearing?

  2. Not sure if any help but on my M900 (bottom end should be the same?) the alternator side gear shaft bearings are (SKF ref. nos);
    Main shaft - 2nu03EC
    Lay shaft - 6305/C3.

  3. Thanks for that, will look into it. I read somewhere they are the same.

  4. I wouldn't be so sure of that. The crankcase design changed for 1999 and the 996 drive side bearing has a different part no from the pre '99 M900 drive side bearing. From '99 on they are the same.

  5. Quite possibly, my M900 engine is a '95 and AFAIK the 'guts' are basically the same (crank throw and primary drive ratio not withstanding) as my '98 916 but the later engines maybe different?

    Although I believe the gearboxes are compatible/interchangeable so would think the shaft & therefore the bearing might be the same? can't say for sure though...

  6. After some/much googling the bearing code is also the same as used on on some Norton commandos, they also had varying codes but apparently exactly the same dimensions and build, along with the c rating. Still buggered if i can find anything listed on bearing supplyers sites. in case anyone says go to your ducati dealer. i am abroard and everywhere is closed here at the moment. Just doing research.
