One of the instructors at Castle Doom has a Matrix jobbie... He seems to enjoy giving it a sound thrashing!
Anyone help me out with a bit of information is the 998FE engine the same as the 999 or are they two different engine :Bookworm:
From memory the FE Deffo has the deep sump more powerful motor than the Matrix, pretty sure the base 999 has this lump. Google bhp figures you will soon suss it out.
Deep sump motor only came on the facelift version of the 999. Earlier version doesn't have it. Thus I would think that no 998 has it. (unless there was an R or something). Still, I'm not a Ducati anorak, so if someone wants to tell me I am entirely wrong, I'll believe them.
Ha ha good one, the 998FE has this deep sump motor for sure, my 999r Fila also (2003 version ) but think your right the latter 999s only.
02 998s' were same castings as 998r but not magnesium, didn't have the ti rods or hairy cams either ... now I think about it tho the R and the S deep sump castings were slightly different, the S being slightly 'shorter' I think. I need a new coat! Useless piece of information #1,115
Did he buy it new for an investment and now want's to sell? If so it was a bad investment. Or did he buy the one from the USA this year that I posted about - new, unregistered and very cheap (about £6K), if so probably a good investment. Although that shop in Sheffield would probably have it up for about £25,000 if they got hold of it
Recently I met a guy at the box who paid over £10 for a 998fe . I think from protwins . Not new, good nick though.
No it came from someone who had a collection of 4 Ducati's in his house, his 998 fe is easy on the eye,
Think the first of the deep sump motors was on the 996R . Which was also a full 999cc engine. Could be wrong though.
