749 Wire Identification Headlight Relay Plug ?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by DeanF, Dec 30, 2014.

  1. Evening all..
Does anyone know what colour wire does what function on the 749s headlight relay loom plug to enable me to trouble shoot why i have no dipped headlight when i turn my ignition on... i now have a working relay thanks to Bananaman.. The relay from the headlight works on the fuel pump prime & vice versa but still no dipped beam..
i take it that a cycle of the ignition should sort out the built in feature of the low voltage headlamp turn off that happens when you leave your ignition without having the engine running ? Or do you have to physically start the bike then turn off & back on Etc ?.

If it does turn out to be a Dodgey Ecu feed to the relay can i just remove the Ecu feed wire & replace it with an ignition feed, Say from the Fairing screen lamp which activates from the ignition ?.

    All fuses are fine Etc..

    Cheers
    Dean

  2. Have you checked the low beam lamp to see if that's the cause?

  3. Yes, Sorry should of mentioned that, The lamp works fine also ...
    Cheers

  4. The headlight relay is triggered by the dash via a Grey/black wire. This goes to pin 20 of the dash connector. The switched 12v supply is via the Yellow/red and red/yellow wires into the relay. The fourth wire to the electromagnet of the relay is red/green.

  5. Is the bike running when you check the low/high beam?

  6. Cheers Chris, Thats big help
I didnt have the Bike running tonight after i fitted your relay as i didnt want to rattle the neighbours windows. I will run it Tomorrow & see
    Cheers
