  1. from my initial , tho scant, searches the dark screens are not expensive...
    ( woops,, sorry,, deviation )

  2. You will find that with a 32Gb card it will be the battery that is your restriction. I used to carry two spare batteries for the cameras and change them after a while. I now have a USB Li-ion power pack that has a solar cell on one side (€12 from ebay China), and can run one camera on that for way longer than I need. The other thing that I have done is to make up a USB power supply on the BMW so that I can charge the cameras on the bike while sitting and drinking coffee - something that we tend to do in France.
The Gopro sticky mounts attach to a screen with no problems, after removing they leave no residue or marks at all.

  3. I got the newish "basic" model for Christmas (more than happy as that'll do what I need). However, the case etc. is different so could you please show how the tether fixes to the camera, so I can see if it'll work on my Go Pro? As it's a newer model many of the product listings haven't been updated so it's hard to know what's compatible. Once I know how I can tether it I'll then think about where I can mount it on the 851. Thanks.

  4. There isn't an official tethering point on mine either . I have the tether round the centre bit of the hinge . Right next to the mount fixing point.you do need a small thin tether though.I'll get you a picture of how I have mine.

  9. Thanks for posting the pictures. That's how I thought the tethers worked.....which is a shame as the Hero doesn't have that gap in the case to fix a tether to. I guess I'll have to put it on the clamp at the top of the case. Go Pro obviously think you want to keep a £300 camera but don't give a hoot about a £100 camera.

I like the cheaper option by Nelson but with my luck it'd be the bolt falling out that led to loss of the camera!!

  10. If you look on ebay most appear to attach this way.
The case would benefit from have an eye for a loop/clip to attach.

  11. If you use the skeleton case then you can attach a lanyard to the holes in the back door.

  12. Cable ties make great tethers

  13. Hi thanks for all the replies there most helpful.

One thing that I can't figure out is what frames per second I should be shooting in and what the hell they stand for anyways, as I'm a complete goon When it comes to tech?

On my camera they start at 24fps and go up to 80fps can some educated soul please explain this in laymen's terms for me!

    Thanks in advanced

  14. The more fps the smoother the video. If you think of each frame as a picture then is you shot at 2fps (not possible) the video will be very jerky. The more fps you shoot at then the more memory card it will use. I keep mine set at 60 fps as I have the memory card capacity and when you are editing the video later you can slow it to a half speed slomo and still keep a smooth video.

  15. at 80 you get better definition but less minutes,,, and vice versa.

  16. FPS stand for frames per second, a measurement for how many unique consecutive images a camera can handle each second. Low-end digital still cameras typically have a frame rate of 1fps. Low end digital video cameras typically have a frame rate of 30fps.

So basically at 24fps you will get 24 frames per 1 second of video, at 80fps you will get 80 frames (pictures) per second which will give you a more stable picture and better quality.

  17. Forgot to say that in playback most humans cannot detect anything faster (more) than about 30 fps.

  18. That's why I love this forum thanks guys.
