This one, Ducati 999 S MONO also 2004 DUCATI 999 BIP DAMAGED SPARES OR REPAIR ***NO RESERVE*** (6962)
don't or exige will become EXJIZZ with all the excitement. Its about time people started realising that they were actually a brilliant bike. Lets face it, I spoke to Terblanche once, and he himself said following on style wise from the 916 was a kick in the bollocks. It was a massive ask following on from that, so he took a different stance and just asked the ducati mechanics what they thought would be cool. And interestingly when he asked what I thought of the bike looks wise, I said that I loved the stacked lamps and the nose, and that the only bit that looked unfinished was the tail, to which he sort of confirmed. Controversial I know, but the 999 family has lived in the shadow of the 916 for far too long. And what did it take to make everyone get sticky knickers again? engineering excellence? nah... put a single sided swinger back on the bike (1098) and everyone stopped bleating.
I already posted this on Ebay Bikes as being barmy, I paid a lot less for my 999R with similar mileage 18 months ago
The crashed one is an 05MY but standard exhaust and much damage - wouldn't like to pay much more than what it is at now - will be interesting to see what happens.
That 999S seems pricey compared to this recent auction on ebay.Lot of bike for the money and if I had the cash spare id have been tempted to have a bid at this price . DUCATI 999S RED | eBay
They are worth £4 to £5K. There is one on Ebay now at a dealer with 4000 miles for about £5.1K. The same dealer sold a similar mileage Dark 06 model with radial Ohlins and black swing arm for £5K last year! The dealer over the road bout it and advertised it for £6K.
Yes 2004 same as 999S in opening post.Seems this one was a good buy for someone then.R models go for sensible and silly money depending on seller/buyer. Id deffo wouldn't say no to a 06 999R Xerox rep with the black ohlins forks. For sensible money mind.
ooops :Shamefullyembarrased: yea,,,,,,, 9 for a mk 1 is ludicrous,,, just because he is asking for it does not mean that he is going to get it .
At just over 4k the ebay 999S in my link seems like a no brainer compared to 998S prices. At 9k id be looking for a early R model. If you think that seller is optimistic have a look at some of the asking prices for foggy rep sps on ebay.Lmao.
(R) models seem to be going for a lot of money and are going up all the time. 999/749 models will gradually go up as people collect more and more of them and realise they are a good bike and get over the uglyness they were tagged with from the start. I'm glad I got my R at a sensible price......
Ive seen early R models for 9k upwards and some later 05/06 going for 11k or less. Then again ive seen 996R for sale x2 a couple of yrs ago for just over 10k.I guess prices are rising fast on R models.SP and SPS models seem to be rising also and older 888 series ltd edition always seem to fetch strong money still. Didn't some of the leap of power from mk1 to mk2 come from changing dyno reading from rwbhp to being measured at the crank.
I agree with that, r, sp, sps models seem to be going through the roof at the moment. Especially the 996 sps, 11-14k some I've seen.
Silly money really.I wouldn't pay that for sure. Not long back a nice 916/996 sps could be had for 6.5 - 8.5 k. Right now the best value R seems like the stonking 1098R.
Two were up recently for £14K at dealers (999R's, one at Snells) both for "14K and didn't hang around for more than a month. One was a 2003 Fila one an 05 Red R. Most of the power increase was the change in measurement from Rear Wheel to Crank to fall in line with the industry - they didn't need to do this, they should have remained true to their cause I think. There wasn't a Mk1 or Mk2 as such. Earlier ones had Carbon Seat Units, later ones didn't - off set by the Black Swing Arm I guess. Fila's had the option of Carbon Cam Covers and Black Swing arm in 2004 evidently anyway or some were supplied with them and some weren't.
