I've bought a set of M4 callipers (from Doodle) and the dealer (P&H) is now telling me they don't fit? They say that only half the brake pad will touch the disc? I know these are OK on the standard forks but I would think they should be the same fit on the Ohlins as well? I'm sure the standard callipers are the same on both bikes?
If they fit ohlins they must fit std. Maybe its a spacer needed? And also no idea what M6 calipers are
Sorry my mistake, M4's, 100mm centres M4 Titanium Radial | Calipers | Racing | Motorcycle Brakes Configurator These are the callipers fitted to Doodles bike, and they look like standard discs to me:
Erm...take the spencer out then! Lol I had to buy shorter bolts when I fitted ohlins forks to my Evo which used the ste billet calipers. Take these are direct then? I thought they were all m4 on 1098 and evo
Do you have 320 or 330mm discs? On the 1098 with 330mm discs theres a 5mm spacer fitted. Are they trying to use the spacer on 320 discs?
can it be something as simple as a mechanic ( oh sorry "technician" ) does not realise that he just has to not fit the spacer,,, surely not :Banghead:
The bolts will be too long, so if he doest fit the spacer they pretrude and dont lock down. Just buy shorter bolts. Perfect opportunity to buy Ti ones Tbh if this is the reason, I would be taking my bike elsewhere in future or insisting the YTS lad doesnt do it
Don't even need new bolts bradders, put the spacer between bolt and caliper rather than caliper and fork.
Cant remember why I didnt, think there isnt one on the 848 (smaller discs to start with) so no spcer there which you would have on a1098
As I answered in my reply to you, they should fit with the standard bolts and no spacers. I posted pics of mine previously. I have had these calipers on my 10 and 12 bikes, they fit just the same. The mts has 320 mm discs, so no need for spacers. It's the hoses that complicate things. hopefully, since you clearly didn't believe what I told you, you will see from the below pics what I am talking about :Angelic: these were taken just now. hope that helps to clarify things.
If it comes to it, I'll drive down to P&H next week and show them myself. Once complete, I reserve the right to belt seven bells of shit out of the "technician" responsible with the largest breaker bar in my possession. The fact that they "think" it won't fit indicates they haven't actually tried.
