Think I have spent about £2000 ish on upgrades on my Monster including Termis, tail tidy, ASV levers and LED indicators but all things that won't be changed again any time soon and will probably last the life of the bike which I have no intention of selling. I don't tell my husband what things cost, if he's interested he will Google it and has been known too before. My money and my choice so I can buy what I like. I don't understand the couples that ask each other permission for things, each to their own but I like to think I live in a democratic house not a dictatorship!
I've always ridden bikes, my elder sister has always ridden horses and owned a riding stables for a good few years. She past her bike test last month and takes delivery of a 3 yr old Yamaha 600 Divi today and currently owns 0 horses. I think that's a win to me the sis!
Me wife and I have a "splash cash" pot each that has an equal amount put into it each month. That "splash cash" can be spent on whatever the hell we like and its no business of the other person, as long as its legal(ish). We started doing this after I found out how much Lancôme was.
agree with finm and mrc, the wife has 2 horses, so that keeps her happy and out the way, for me to continue the ducati collection.. anyone with horses knows, they are a full time job, so keeps her out my hair....
I brought a new to me (2nd hand bike), just under £14K. And spent about £6-7k on FARKLE's, PPE, clothing, bike shows. Another £1100 on servicing, £350 tyres, £600 on Insurance and whatever 12K miles by 38mpg works out at. (to be fair I think I've sold a top box £200 and I need to move bike a Ducati on, so minus £8K). Way too little....must do better in 2015. 1st Jan to 8th Jan 2015 No Fuel!!! £500 on M4 callipers, pipes and pads. This year more on Fuel and trips away (UK and EU).
I've spent loads on the bike this year. My wife would probably have a few words to say if she finds out the true cost of things. But I think that as long as the income's healthy enough to provide for all our expenses and a little more, I can't be doing much wrong. I don't drink, buy expensive clothes or anything like that so I don't mind spending a bit on my hobby.
I pay for all the bike stuff out of my own money, my wife has many visits from the Boden and Shoe Fairy (as I call the delivery man). If I'm going to spend a substantial amount, or want to go to Europe for a week then I discuss this with her, but as long as it doesn't affect her holidays, or general expenditure on the house then she's usually cool with it. Luckily we have always lived within our means, and with grown up kids we have more time and money to do what we want. That said I do sometimes "under-estimate" when I tell her what things cost on the bike
Luckily for me we have loads of expensive stuff for work delivered to the house, so when she sees an invoice for £500 worth of say Brembo M4 100, Pads, lines etc she thinks its for work.
think i spent about spent about a grand but that's including another engine belts changed throttle bodies balanced new front wheel bearings and spindle new brake lever and replacement indicator couple of oil filters and oil not bad really definitely had my moneys worth of fun though
