Obscure (ish) parts wanted

  1. Foam instrument surround - someone, somewhere, makes them - I have seen them! Who, where?
C/F panels at the side of instruments - sure there is a link from the 900SL FB group but no FB access at the moment.
'Cable' between trip meter reset knob and speedo - could be a tough one this...
Front subframe - will know tonight if mine will pull through or not, anybody got one for sale?

  2. I saw the instrument beautification panels in carbon on ebay germany but haven't seen them for ages.

    mounting frame:

DUCATI 600/750/900SS FAIRING MOUNTING FRAME | eBay

search 900ss fairing and a few come up :upyeah:

cable could be tricky but not impossible - it's only a control cable after all. ebay 900ss clocks yields results, but unfortunately you have to fork out for the whole binnacle.

  3. Pict, I have a redundant SS speedo in my workshop, you can have it for the postage and I'm certain there is a cable on it........assuming you mean the tripmeter reset cable?

  4. I have one used one but it seems in good condition and re-usable (actually I have two, but I might want one).......I also made a polished aluminium one, which you aren't getting........However, as yours is a 900 you have an extra hole don't you?.....You can have one of the foam ones if any good to you.

I have a spare (I did have two, but one became my remote throttle stop adjuster) but I'm keeping it because: "What if mine breaks, like Pict's has".....However, a broken rev counter cable or speedo cable can be used to mend the broken trip cable.....with some force and a bit of solder.....you can even cross drill the brass bits 1mm dia and put a cross pin in there......

PS...The trip meter cable is fixed to the speedo with a tiny little grub screw which is prone to getting lost, but you can resolve this with an R Clip.

PPS....I also have a complete dash and instruments....750 again, though.

  5. Nog - you're on, I'll send you an email.

Al - Cheers for all the tips, the trip reset cable didn't break (that I know of) it just wasn't there when I got the bike. Not a problem until now as I'm putting it back together after a rebuild.

  6. Turns out my frame is OK (phew..) - but that one looks a good deal. I had looked on eBay before posting, seems the trick is to guess what description the seller may use

  7. got a couple of those lying around but they are not off a ducati, got a photo? they may be able to be adapted to work

  8. One foam dash.......www.mdinaitalia.co.uk - Instrumentfoam900SS9798

and for the trip meter, you could always make a straight 'adjuster' from a bit of old car aerial as a temporary measure......or even make a flexi one using a bit of heavy strimmer cord......

....I may have enough bits to make one if necessary.......(that means when I have broken two, BTW)

  9. Here is what it will look like.......ignore the screw at the clock end and the red sleeve; plue the chrome ring should be black brass....this one is now my remote throttle stop screw adjuster.

  10. His prices don't seem that far adrift from Ducati prices......I might be wrong.

  11. is this what you are looking for

end that mounts to speedo is 3mm internl diameter and drilled for a split pin to locate it

  12. That looks as though it would be OK.....or easily made to be OK.

  13. Sorted - Thanks everyone!

    www.mdinaitalia.co.uk - Instrumentfoam900SS9798 Thanks AL

It was Kamna in Germany, but no more; "the carbon cover is not available for 900SS"

Sorted - Cheers Nog :upyeah: Also all others with offers and suggestions. I feel like an expert on these now. Didn't even know what they were called a few days ago

Though brutalised by an over enthusiastic blaster, my uncle who is doing the paint can restore it to meet my high standards
