1199 Looking For An 1199 For £12k

  1. I take it your dash doesn't read true mileage either now?
I am happy with the price and the slightly higher mileage, I am just making sure I'm not going to be the only one out there with incorrect mileage on the 1199 dash when it come to resale time in years to come.
If there are loads of 1199 out there in the same situation then it's no problem.

  2. my dash reads wrong as the new dash comes with zero miles on, doesn't matter what miles the panni reads when u come to p/x your gonna get hammered , you can polish it every sunday and spend thousands on bits and bobs makes no difference, use it abuse it then at least you've got some moneys worth, my point on page 2 was don't tell me the dealer did not know true mileage?

  3. and the reason saying that COMESUNT , was ive spoke to 3 ducati dealers on a possible p/x for a 1299 and they all ask the mileage and the next question is , are they the original clocks ,, so dealers know about the issues,

  4. Not knowing the clocks had been changed is pretty poor.. I bought mine from there and the clocks had been changed. The clocks were changed at 1200 miles and wasnt much more than this one back in Mar 2013.

  5. Providing it has the service hisory an records of changes does it matter?!

  6. I think the problems are going to surface soon, the thing is the clocks have a countdown to service, mine says about 4k roughly, but in 6k mine needs a major 2yr service, so there will be people just getting an oil and filter done when perhaps it needs the major service , its gonna put a lot of people off buying 2nd hand , or even off dealers, if they are not forthcoming and telling people this is not the original clocks,

  7. Should have bought my 1198SP for £12,000. The mileage is correct and what's 1cubic centimetre between friends anyway ?

  8. I'm surprised the mileage isn't recorded in the ECU like it is in the more recent Multis.

  9. I would imagine there are also a large number of 848 / 1198 with replacement dash as well,
they were renowned for misting up also.

  10. At least you know its been do e already..and I'd take a 1199 over a 1198 sp anyday. I'd want reliability not chocolate a gearbox

  11. I had my dash replaced in October. Mileage of the new unit was adjusted to reflect the true mileage of the failed unit.

    1199 dash, that is.

  12. Now I really am confused, I was under the impression that can't be done. What model is that then?
Having read up about the dash issue I am still unsure of the main failure, is it just the misting up that was a problem?

  13. I think the main failure is misting.

Bought mine back in July and the clock started to mist. Took it back to Ducati Wolverhampton and they said it couldn't be replaced under warranty. Took it to JHP and they said if the misting is covering the speed then it can be replaced. Got it done, came with 0 miles but need to go back to get the service light turned off when it hits 600 i think, but havent reached it because the weather is too naff now. My service book reflects the work done and the actual mileage so i wouldnt worry about the correct mileage if you ever come to sell it, plus i think Ducati will have a record on the vehicle history of any warranty work carried out and it will be recorded somewhere the actual mileage of the bike when the clocks were replaced.

  14. Well JHP Coventry delivered the 1199 on Thursday and it is everything I thought it would be, spotless, what a beautiful piece of machinery. Thanks to those that helped me source it. Dash change was not an issue, it has a service history with correct mileage thats all that matters. Bloody hell, it sounds awesome too.
