  1. Hi All,

It has taken me a while, but have finally discovered this site after the demise of the old Ducatisti forum.

Sold my 848 last winter to partly finance a new house but got back in the saddle in October 2014 with the purchase of a beautiful 916 SPS. It's currently hibernating for winter but can't wait to get to grips with it this year. Haynes manual on standby ;)

    Ciao for now!

  2. Welcome Jockanese Dave :)

  3. how do.

  4. Fantastic bike.
I had one, sold it to some guy in Dubai.
Not sure of the number, will have to look at some old photos.

998S in the coach house and a couple of 1200 Multistradas.
One going very cheap if you fancy a winter bike.

Welcome and watch out for the locals.
As per Douglas Adams novel....mostly harmless, but mad as a box of frogs...especially your country men.

Treat the forum like a pub.
You get all sorts in here.

  8. What have I just agreed to, fin? I'm not at all sure.

  9. Welcome I also live in gods Country....

  10. Nice bike reminds me of what mine should be like as standard.Do you plan on riding it after winter. It will certainly make for a interesting ride as the power delivery and engine character is different from the later testastretta/evo bikes.

Might be worth fitting some lighter wheels, power commander with custom map and dyno time if you can save some pennies over the winter. Will help it feel a bit more up to date after the 848 maybe.

  11. welcome - good choice of bike

  12. Thanks for the welcome, even from you Southern folk! ;)

I'm planning on putting some miles on the bike after winter. I only got one decent run in prior to the winter weather.

I test rode an 899 after reading all of the rave reviews in September and while it was an astonishing bike it's power delivery was perhaps too refined for its own good in my mind. I expected to want one there and then, and I just didn't. I rode a monster 1200s on the same day which pulled like a train right through the rev range and it put a bigger smile on my face than the 899. I felt the monster had more character about its engine but wasn't quite ready to give up sports bikes so went back to the drawing board realising that I was really after a noisy, characterful, sports bike and so I arrived at the SPS. Hopefully the promise of the first spin I had in October will come good.

First plan is a belt service as the bike was laid up for two years. The last owner changed them himself two weeks prior to sale but I'm keen to maintain the good service history it already has - is this madness?!

Could be tempted by a set of the later 5 spoke Marchesinis but apart from that I'm keen to keep it as original as is practical. It already has an uprated MPL clutch cylinder and a chain and sprocket conversion carried out by the previous owner, amongst a few other bits and bobs.
