As previous people have said the 'choke 'is a fast idle lever and in my experience should not be touched until the engine fires, as soon as that happens you can gently move the lever towards you to increase revs, all the while keeping your right hand away from the throttle...once its been idling for a couple of minutes I sometimes give it a blip and then return the lever to its home position, it never fails to fire within a three churns from any temperature......bet your last bike was a jap
Not correct. The only 749 with a deep sump engine is the R, all the others are shallow sump. 999 had the deep sump on base model '05-'06.

And your point is? The specs I got from one sight quoted 6 & 5.1. Now bear in mind I am an engineer ex toolmaker, all machined parts are made to tolerances, so to prove your point go and weigh 10 box section ones and 10 sand cast ones, they will all weigh differently. I had two 749 darks, one had grey swingarm reg 2005, had loads of problems with it, out of 6 months ownership 3 mths was spent back in dealerships workshop bike was brand new, they swapped it for a new bike eventually, so the next one I got had black box section swingarm and a deep sump.
You must be kidding if you think there is that much variation - 10 or 20 grams max maybe. I thought you might have noticed he left the heavy chain adjusters in the grey swinger, which would make them very close indeed t each other. So, very little weight difference, just stiffer is the main difference - but considering they are no where near like the WSB swing arms that some assume they are - I do wonder how much stiffer they actually are and how much is marketing propaganda
